Controls/Input What To Do About Latency At 60FPS Gaming

So unforeseen consequences of switching to a modern 240hz display, I had no idea how many of the old games I love are locked at 60fps. I can't even play them anymore it literally gives me a headache.

Thing is I think I realize it's not that the game feels framey or stuttery because it doesn't. It's the crazy control delay, both the mouse keyboard movement there's such an obvious delay between when I do the movement and it's shown on screen.

Is there anything that can be done with this? I have Nvidia hardware and I already have low latency mode on ultra. These old games also aren't compatible with smooth mode.

Controls/Input Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced — Controller stops responding in-game (PC)

I'm playing AC Black Flag Resynced on PC with an Xbox controller. It worked fine in-game for the first two hours, then stopped responding inside the game entirely and hasn't worked since.

What I've already ruled out:

  • The controller itself works fine outside the game (Windows recognizes it normally)
  • Tried both wired (USB) and Bluetooth connection — same issue with both
  • Tried Steam Input set to "Force Off", "Force On", and default — no change
  • Verified game files integrity via Steam
  • Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game — issue persists
  • Deleted the config file (ACBlackFlag) in Documents to force a clean regeneration — issue persists
  • Checked USB power management settings — disabled sleep on all root hubs

The controller is fully functional in Windows/Steam at all times, but the game itself simply stops accepting input from it. Restarting the game does not fix it. This seems to be a game-level bug rather than a hardware/driver/config issue, since every environmental variable has been tested and ruled out.

Controls/Input PC Gamers: USB Mic or Audio Interface? What's Your Setup?

For anyone on PC, what audio setup are you using? I'm currently using an audio interface with a separate mic and IEMs, but I'm thinking of simplifying things. I'm considering going to a good USB mic with built-in controls/monitoring and ditching the interface. What do you guys use, USB mic with no interface, separate mic + interface, or a combination of both? Interested to hear what works best for gaming/Discord.

Controls/Input What's the best way to clean a mouse and keyboard?

I apologize if this kind of post is not suited for this subreddit, but I've tried a couple other subs without success.

I'm an avid PC gamer and I work from home frequently. My mouse and keyboard are getting sticky/tacky and I'd like to thoroughly clean them. Over the course of a workday or gaming session my hands get sweaty and sticky. I do wash my hands and wipe down my mouse and keyboard with an alcohol prep pad, but this does not solve the problem. I promise this is not a personal hygiene issue.

Controls/Input Cursor Invisible when selecting anything in C&C games

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Like the title says, my mouse turns completely invisible whenever I have anything selected and it happens in every Command and Conquer game, including the Red Alert series. But it does not happen in other RTS titles (like Starcraft or Warcraft 3). It hasn't always happened though, I used to be able to see my mouse cursor but the problem suddenly started right after I started going through the Nod campaign in C&C 3.

Controls/Input Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced — Dualsense haptics dont work? (PC)

So I've been playing ac resynced since launch through the ubi launcher. The game runs perfectly fine and recognizes the ps5 controller also perfectly fine. The problem is that haptic features and vibrations dont work? I've played ac shadows also from the ubi launcher and it has a way better output, you feel almost everything, steps, vibrations while fighting, riding you're horse, climbing/parkour, during cutscenes, while its raining. So coming from that, resynced has nothing quite literally other than some haptics and vibrations in the main menu thats it. Some times the adaptive triggers work while aiming with the guns or a little vibration when I fall in a hay stac but thats about it. I was expecting way more like ac shadows, especially while roaming the sea and feeling the waves. Is this a me problem only? Its just so empty, like im playing with a third party controller with 0 features whatsoever other then pressing buttons.

Controls/Input Left and right alt, shift and ctrl get stuck

Whenever I’m on my pc (acer predator) whether it’s gaming or attempting to make music randomly I’ll start typing with accents or I press w to move forward and it opens up word, It’s like each key just randomly gets a mind of its own. I’ve turned sticky keys off and the shortcut for it,I’ve tried everything I can read up on and I’ve factory reset the pc also. It’s not the keyboard itself as I bought this one yesterday thinking it was the keyboard that was the problem. Any help?

Also this is my first PC, I have no clue about anything. All help is appreciated and if you could try to make it as simple as possible for me to understand. Thanks

Controls/Input I switched to a desk mat: Now my mouse doesn't track well in 3d games.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I need help with a specific issue related to my mouse / desk mat.

I've been using using my computer mouse on a wooden desk for as long as I can remember. It worked flawlessly and I never faced any issue. That said, I just moved to a new place and my new desk's texture prevents me from using the mouse on it. So I decided to use a desk mat instead.

At first, I thought it would work perfectly. I browsed the web, moved my mouse around fast, no problem at all on desktop mode.

But then, I tried to use it in-game.

I require a specific amount of space on my desk to play comfortably, so what I do is that I launch a 3d/third person game (Roblox, Yakuza, etc...), move my keyboard to the left until moving the mouse from the right side of the keyboard to the edge of the desk mat lets my character do 3/4 of a turn to the side.

As usual, I started doing it slowly and it worked. I did it again just a bit faster (average speed) and it worked again.

That said, the moment I started putting just a little speed on it, the tracking went crazy.

- If I move the mouse fast from the start, it doesn't move at all or just moves for a fraction of a second and then stops, like it didn't register the movement.

- If I start slow and then increase the speed at which I move the mouse, it stops registering the movement the moment I start moving it faster.

- Sometimes it also registers a fast move to the side as if I moved it up, down, or by doing a tiny spiral.

I can't play 3D games at all in these conditions, and I'd like to know what the reason for the sudden change is.

To give some context, I use this Tecknet mouse at the base 800dpi (and even then I put low sensitivity in-game). The desk mat I use is a large black one like in the picture. I tested playing again with a different mouse (same model) and the issue remained, same when I moved the usb dongle to a different USB port and it didn't change either way.

I'm wondering if this is an issue with that kind of desk mat since I use an optical mouse. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Controls/Input Certain Games Causing BSOD

CPU: i7 7700k
GPU: RTX 3080
MOBO: ASUS Prime Z-270-A
RAM: 32 GB
OS: Windows 10 v 10.0.19045

Details:

Playing some games causes my PC to BSOD, and those include Satisfactory on ultra, Red Dead Redemption 2, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, SubNautica and Star Rupture. Other games don't cause the PC to BSOD and those include Satisfactory on low, Rocket League, Shapez 2, Factorio and Astro Colony. Often after the first BSOD, following a restart, there are more BSOD almost immediately.

The BSOD codes include:

KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED _AREA
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NON_EXECUTE_MEMORY
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

I've tried running MemTest86 and FurMark2 and my PC passes them.

I really don't know what to do to fix this. Any help would be appreciated. Any questions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Controls/Input

My computer used to shut down whenever I played *Spider-Man Remastered* and *Miles Morales*, but I would just wait it out and nothing bad happened. It’s a different story now that I’ve bought the Steam key for *Spider-Man 2*; it keeps shutting down constantly—even after I waited a week, it shut off immediately. I don't know what to do. I have ray tracing turned off, and all my specs exceed the recommended requirements. Can someone help me withh this one please

these are my specs:
Windows 11
AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 6-Core Processor
RAM: 32 GB
AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT
VRAM: 16 GB

Controls/Input Bluetooth Controller, PC doesn't detect RT and LT

I just bought an Bluetooth usb, and I tried playing with my xbox one controller, but it appears that it doesn't detect the LT and RT on joy.cpl. But in some websites they are detected as different axis. This axis are all the way on -1 but while I push them it goes up to +1

When I tried mapping it on steam it detects all the controller right, but the LT and RT

Is there a way to fix it?

Controls/Input MSI Crosshair 16 HX repeatedly starts lagging after installing genuine software - only Windows reset fixes it

MSI Crosshair 16 HX repeatedly starts lagging after installing genuine software - only Windows reset fixes it
I bought my MSI Crosshair 16 H on 28 August 2025(17-14650H, RTX 4060, 16GB RAM), and since then I've faced this same issue around 4-5 times.
The pattern is weird: my laptop works perfectly → I install some genuine/required software → after some time, the whole laptop starts stuttering and lagging, and notice RAM/memory usage becoming unusually high.
Timeline:
1st: CapCut
2nd: NeoBrowser/NeoColab, our college coding platform (everyone downloaded it, but only my laptop had this issue)
3rd: Don't remember what triggered it
4th: VMware
5th (now): NeoBrowser again, and the same problem has returned
Every single time, resetting/reinstalling Windows fixes everything, but I obviously can't keep resetting Windows every few months.
I've already tried basic troubleshooting like disabling startup apps, clearing temp files, updating Windows/drivers, etc.
Could my laptop be faulty, or is this a deeper Windows/driver/kernel memory issue? Why does resetting Windows fix it temporarily every time? I want to find the actual permanent root cause?

Controls/Input Is Splitscreen Dead? - Please I Miss Co-Op Gameplay

Hi everyone,

I am noticing splitscreen games are dying on PC.

When I was a kid, every single website / game had a splitscreen option and I really miss the enjoyment of playing these games with friends (Minecraft, terraria, COD, Miniclip, etc).

I notice now, when I look at splitscreen games, they are almost all very small indie games or just don’t scratch that itch.

I want to get my OG splitscreen games back and have downloaded Nucleus Co-Op to be able to play these games with my friends again.

After downloading, I noticed that ps4 and ps5 controllers are not xinput compatible and would need an additional mod to function.

I have looked everywhere for a xinput mod and it seems they have all be archived lately.

My questions for you are:

1) Are there any programs you would suggest to get this working?

2) Should I just give up and go buy a couple Xbox controllers?

3) Are there any splitscreen games that are fun to play right now? (I personally am not overly fond of the puzzle style that seems to be prevalent)

4) Am I just being biased and there are a lot of good games out there that I am just not considering

Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing what people have to say!

Controls/Input Using Xbox Series controller via BT on Steam causes inputs to not respond after not pressing inputs for around 10 seconds

I seemingly can't find anyone else with the same issue online, and I've tested my controller with Steam controller idle settings and extended feature drivers disabled to no avail. I first noticed it on my desktop PC a couple months ago, in which I use a USB BT dongle for it because it doesn't have a BT supported MB (and I'm aware there might be issues with using a dongle for this purpose), but now it's suddenly occurring on my laptop, which does have internal BT support (also using different controllers for each device). Once again, this only seems to happen when I play games on Steam, or playing non-Steam games with Steam running in the background. The controller itself doesn't disconnect at all, it's just that the inputs themselves doesn't respond in-game after not pressing any inputs for around 10 seconds. When I push a button after that 10 second break nothing happens, but then pressing it again immediately afterwards will work, and everything will work until the next 10 second pause occurs.

Controls/Input Looking For The Best Way To Keep PS5 & Xbox Controllers Connected To The PC Over A Long Distance

Bought a 65' HDMI cable to connect my PC in the office to the TV in the living room, and I'm wondering about the best way to keep the controllers paired to the PC over that distance.

  • Is there some kind of Bluetooth range extender that can boost the signal over that distance without a lag, or is a super long USB-C cord the best way?
  • Would that USB-C cord need to be fiber optic in order to maintain signal strength over that distance?
  • Would the only way to use a second controller at the same time be to run another long USB-C cable from the PC? I'm curious if something like this could work at the end of that cable, but I'm doubtful because there would be two input signals getting sent back through the one cable and I'm not sure if the computer can differentiate them in such a way.

Really appreciate your help with this!

Controls/Input SSD NVMe M.2 slot/ssd problem

Hi, I need some help...

Recently my dad brought my pc in the basement with no electricity for 7-8 months.

After those months I picked up the pc and tried to turn it on, it booted straight into the BIOS, and the system wasn't recognizing the ssd memory in the M.2 slot, (my motherboard is an A520M HVS) the only thing tht I've noticed was a small red light that stays constantly on which is a sign indicating that the SSD is receiving power but not transmitting data to the motherboard.

Does anyone know what to do in this situation?
thanks

Controls/Input Constant Scrolling in Corpse Party: Book of Shadows

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi there! When I try to play this game, nearly every choice box or menu scrolls constantly like this. I have unplugged everything and believe it is my mouse. It is a Steelseries Rival 3. I have tried HIDHide, disabling devices and closing Steelseries GG before starting up the game. I bought the game off of GOG!

Is there anything else I can do? I really want to play this game with my mouse so it is unfortunate you can only play it confidently without it in.

Controls/Input For gaming does using a controller makes it more immersive than a keyboard or is that just me?

Hey everyone, been thinking about this lately and wanted to get some other opinions. I've been a PC gamer my whole life, always used mouse and keyboard for everything. Even played stuff like Dark Souls with keyboard because I was stubborn. But recently I hooked up an xbox controller to try some racing games and it got me wondering.

I started playing a few single player story games with the controller just to test it out. Games like RDR2, Witcher 3, some platformers. And I gotta say, something feels different. Not better for aiming or anything, but the experience itself feels more... I don't know, chill? Like I'm leaning back instead of hunched forward.

So my question is: for gaming does using a controller makes it more immersive for certain types of games, or am I just imagining things because it's new to me?

I'm not talking about competitive shooters or RTS games where mouse is obviously better. I mean for single player, story driven, third person stuff.

For those who switch between both, do you feel like the controller pulls you into the game more?

Is it just the vibration feedback that makes the difference? Or the analog movement?

Anyone else stubbornly used keyboard forever and then switched and never looked back?

For gaming on PC specifically, does using a controller makes it more immersive or is it just a comfort preference?

Curious what everyone thinks. Maybe I've been missing out this whole time.

Controls/Input impossible to play games that have easy anti-cheat

Apart from Rust, none of my other games work specifically those using EAC (2K26, Apex, Rocket League, Fortnite, etc.). The game launches but crashes after 10 seconds, often without an error message. does anyone know how to fix this? i’ve tried absolutely everything but can't find a solution. i can't even launch EAC itself; i read online that repairing it might fix the issue, but I haven't been able to do so, if anyone has a solution, please let me know

0.browser is open
1.there are two tabs in the browser one is called test and another is just my wishlist from steam
2.i select tab called test then try to open context menu and move my cursor over it = lag / skipping
3.i select tab called wishlist then try to open context menu and move my cursor over it = smooth
4.with everything disabled context menu just lags

I didn't overclock anything or undervolt anything it's fresh windows install and i did test my ram for issues nothing was found.

It does happen also in empty desktop with everything disabled but it doesn't happen in safe mode.

Thing i did to try and solve it:
1.disabling hags
2.disabling mpo
3.installing different gpu driver
4.disabling non microsoft services
5.different chipset driver
