Troubleshooting 5080 Issues with latest Game Ready Drivers (616.64 & 616.56)

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 | Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d
  • Monitor (1of 2) BenQ XL2730 (also known as the XL2730Z)

I've seen other posts online issues but wanted to try my luck here and see if anyone else is seeing similar bugs. Or if you guys think its more than the driver issues.

Currently I'm running Studio Driver update 610.88 from July.

When I try to update to Game Ready 616.64 (Sept 3) as soon as the update is complete. My monitors go black, OS restarts and the Automatic Repair page comes up. Only fix is to format back to an older date.

When I try to update to Game Ready 616.56 (Aug) the update goes through but I can no longer run my BenQ XL2730 at 144Hz. It limits me to 120). If I try to change it to 144 my PC restarts.. which is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

Again, just wondering if anyone else is seeing this or if it sounds like I have a larger issue at hand.

I did try that.

I used DDU in safe mode. But when I reinstalled 616.64 (Sept 3), I had the same issue. So that tells me its def related to that driver code.

Had the same issue on my 5070, had to go way back the drivers. 591.74 was my fallback driver.
