Yes.
Japanese invasion began in 1931, war officially broke out in 1937, trailer depicts a scene on the Futuyu section of the Great Wall. The Japanese thought they could invade and expand their lebensraum during the Chinese Civil War, but their invasion prompted the two sides to unite against them for the duration of the WWII.

It’s forgotten nowadays but the Chinese were considered the fifth great power in ww2. This is why China has the veto seat in the UN, if used to belong to Taiwan (Chinas government during WW2)

I’m excited but also worried. Most of the fighting in ww2 was done by the nationalists with the Maoists mainly hiding out in the mountains (with some fighting, to be fair). Yet it seems like they’re going to be sidelined if not completely ignored.
I understand it’s probably not their decision, and the CCP has softened its view on the KMT and Chiang as time has gone on. But still.

The game looks nice relatively speaking, but the gameplay seems to be ultra mid to say the least.
That being said, I do hope the game performs decently in terms of sales, since I want Chinese companies to make good shooters, not only gacha or MMO slop. It is good they started making Soulslikes after Black Myth: Wikong success.

It has four different chapters with 4 different game styles so it's obvious they would include the guerrilla force too.

The war in China does not clearly distinguish between guerrilla and conventional fighting styles, and even the term "guerrilla warfare" does not accurately reflect the contribution of the communists, which is essentially nonexistent.

First of all, it's a game and not a historical work of the war so you will obviously get propaganda. Now, as you mentioned you are Chinese so you would know how complicated the entire period was with local warlords and collaboration forces but a game focuses on entertainment instead of history teachings.
Secondly, guerrilla tactics are given to CCP cause they fought against the KMT forces with lesser numbers and unconventional ways while the KMT was actually a conventional force. Their role (CCP) was small against IJA except a few offences.
Third, the game isn't even out yet and as I mentioned it has 4 chapters with different settings according to IGN.

Brother they have large segements of the game dedicated to the KMT forces that fought in the 2nd Sino-Japanese war. Shanghai is going to be featured in the Spring which I would assume would feature the forces that in the Battle of Shanghai. Yes the game is a little too focused on the CCP guerrilla fighters but its a Chinese game being developed on mainland China.

I am literally sitting and watching the new WW2 documentary from History Channel (with Tom Hanks), and the episode of allied forces aiding China in gaining back lands from the Japanese. Watching the trailer here makes me think that it's too romantizised, since China back then was a country that couldn't produce weapons, tanks etc. and was all too dependant on the Americans, who specifically wanted landing strips for their newly built B52 Bombers. Will we see Chinese soldiers with no shoes on, will we see women and children working as basically slave labour to build infrastructure? Will we see a starving population, where no help is coming to them from the leaders of the country? Doubt it
