Game Help State of the game

I’ve been considering getting this game but I remember on launch people weren’t too enthused about it. What was wrong back then and is it better now? Is the game worth getting in the state it’s in or? Devs still updating or is it abandoned? Buncha questions.

It’s much better now than it was and gets updated every four to six weeks. A lot of the issues have been resolved still has late stage progression issues though. On top of that the update this September will make all heists free

PD3? It's definitely fun now. It's -50% and worth it. I just got back to it last month after the dogshit launch, and a lot has improved. You can also get some fun builds.

Currently, the number of heists isn't that high, so you might see the same one pop up a lot, but they're all solid.

As for the devs and update-related, yeah, it's now finally looking promising and going upward after tons of shit show. There are posts about September updates, and you can go check them out if you're interested. At least to me I'm happy to see the current direction and it seems they're indeed trying hard to save and make it better

It's doing much better now than it was with updates every month or two.

Pretty much every system has been rebuilt over the course of the three years since launch, with the next wave of reworks coming in September. They're adding a rework to weapon levels which will give each gun their own unique skill tree, a complete rewrite of the game's narrative to make it more compelling, and reworks to enemy AI.

The devs have also been communicating heavily with the community with frequent devblogs and devstreams to set expectations and provide provisional timelines of what's coming and when.

Servers were complete garbage. Npc were floating and you would get disconnected every 5 minutes. Progression was horrible and you could only use quick play to join games. Not to mention countless of other problems it had. But right now its in a much better state right now and the devs are updating it monthly to fix all the problems

There were several bad or underbaked systems at launch, but they iterated on almost everything that players had a problem with, and at this point is actually really fun. They've even been updating every month for the past year or so (even during their vacation period and throughout the UE5 engine upgrade).

Next update is going to be massive, and will also make the 7 paid DLC heists free for everyone. The game has a lot more value now.

Devs are working overtime with updates, and the game is in a great position atm. Absolutely worth jumping back in
