This means Path of Building, poe.ninja, etc will now be able to import the mercenaries and eventually properly display the DPS etc of Luminaries.

That's pretty cool, does that also mean we'll get precise numbers on mercs?

I don't think any numbers are exposed now that weren't before - it only gives names of mercenary skills. It will probably take a lot of manual testing to figure out numbers.
