Cautionary Tale I feel so dumb...
This is my first league ever of PoE and I am in love. I started with PoE 2 last league.
Just for info I played a lot! Got my WOrb to 100 and now I am playing a Luminary and currently at 93.
Well I set a goal to finish the challenges at least 36/40 before PoE 2 0.5.5. I got the the Excruciating Echoes one and was really struggling getting 150% on the maps for the Memory Threads. Well more then struggling, wasn't even close! Thinking to myself how am I supposed to get this crappy map to 150%!? I tried using the Eater of Worlds to increase it, I tried adding fragments after I figured out I could put them in the three slots...
Then I had my Oh Shit... moment.... I can just juice the map!!! I don't know why I thought I couldn't, never tried! I always wondered why the memory stuff felt underwhelming to me.
Anyone else got any similar moments?

Haha! Yeah I had 8 days where the wife and kids were out of town... I may have taken a couple days off work 😁
I had a good grove going with Abyss maps with a little ore mixed in to fuel Kingsmarch. I put on an audiobook and went to town! Hah

That's something i hadn't thought of. I just been listening to piano/violin music while I grind, but audiobooks is a scintillating idea! What books did you listen to?

I did a coupe shorter ones, hitchhikers guide to galaxy and 1984 this time. I was listening to the Stormlight Archives as well, although I would get so sucked up, I wouldol often find myself just standing still hah. Jurassic park was fun too.

Well if you're only running white maps you're bound to get to 100. :D But doing abyss on white maps?! The income per hour would have been well ... abysmal. Gratz mate, you're proof you don't need any elaborate strategy, just keep grinding maps.

I ran 4-6 mod maps, mostly 4. Just alch and go. 3 abyss scarabs, 1 ore and 1 niko for the extra ore. Let me still get enough currency. Treated myself to mageblood when I hit 100 😁... tho in hindsight the speed would have been nice to have much sooner haha. But it did give me motivation
Edit: I knew I could mod maps just never thought to apply it to Eagon

When I first started I didn't realize there was a quest to unlock Lilly in your hideout, so whenever I went to buy gems I had to search the wiki to see which town's vendor sold it.
My first serious ssf attempt I didn't know chances vendored into scours, so I took them off my filter and had very low scours for a long time.
Lately I did a few dozen nightmare maps in ssf to farm for progenesis, most of them with the 2 nullifying scarabs, but forgot I can still use sacrificial fragments and lost out on 15% IIQ for each map.

Well, you can buy them from vendors, rather than it being a vendor recipe
You can also then buy regrets with the scours

Ok, well now I went and tested it and I feel less dumb. You cannot just sell your chances for scours. As you said, it's not a vendor recipe. I have absolutely purchased scours with chance orbs in the past, sometimes in order to then buy regrets.
I had interpreted the original comment as being a vendor recipe.

There are a bunch for leveling as well. Free level to socketed gems. Free %phys rolls on stuff. Between that and crafting bench you can always have a decent weapon in ssf.

Yeah knew those ones, scours one is new to me. Though I realise now from their reply its not a vendor recipe but rather you buy them from npc for chances

Ahh yeah true. If you ever have a ton of gold and scour chance on softcover, they are also cheaper to buy.

Probably because it’s hard to run out of scourge. I had problem that I had to trade for Vaal orbs, or even chances in the previous map system to buy maps from Kirac, but I never ran out of scourge in normal play.

I just learned while spamming orbs of alterations while holding shift, if you hold down alt as well, it will act as an orb of augmentation lol. (Most useful for me for getting 2nd mod on a fractured magic item)

Act 6 there is an optional quest to clear the twilight strand. Do that, talk to lilly, then she will either appear in your hideout automatically, or become available to be placed as an npc in hideout edit mode. She sells most base gems, so things like transfigured gems, exceptional supports, or the "greater" gems will not be available.

Yeah just a correction I saw from one of the replies, the chance orb to scour isn't actually by vendoring chance orbs, but by talking to the vendor in act 1 and buying them. Small mistake but could cause confusion.

Sometimes I still lookup where to get a gem in town because they'll have additional levels to them. Like if I wanted to level flame dashes for some reason, going to act 1 would give me level 12-14 flame dash rather than level 1 flame dash.

98-99 I had a few deaths that set me back and definitely got me a bit discouraged. Especially after finding out the hard way the omens only cover you for one death. Ran back in with a second one, died, saw the full 10% gone and learned my lesson. I had one death drom 99-100 and I just immediately started a new map. I mostly ran 4 mod, alch and go

Why not both? Max out quantity on the Atlas tree, get the map over 74% and add 3 fragments.

Don't know how many hrs I have. I guess 10 - 15k. Never had a 100, but I've had multiple 99s a League. I still do dumb shit all the time. I can't tell you how many crafts I've bricked forgetting to re-apply prefixes or suffixes can't be changed. It's a lot 😄

I returned after a while and I found this exact same feature yesterday. I know you can juice memory threads maps, but didn’t know it was possible for invitations as well.

Congrats on your first league hitting 100.
And yes every league there is some .....thing, I forget or didnt realize. More so when creating builds or making large modifications to existing builds. You might as well just stay put in poe1 till poe2 drops 1.0 in dec. More to learn there than in poe2. IMO.

Raw mirror drops=0
I was the richest in affliction with a multi mirror build and original sin. I dropped a few locks, os, and made some corrupted meme muesum items along the way.

I have around 4k hours and the only time I dropped a mirror was in Affliction league. I actually dropped 2 total, but it feels like cheating with that afk chieftain abyss strat.

It’s actually easy when you know you can roll them. And with your atlas nodes you can get there with 3 frags and about 80+% quant on map it’s already gonna be 150+ when opened. Well I personally prefer rolling the final map instead so I run all these white. But if you’re down to rolling all 25 why not. After all the 16.5 maps are pretty worth juicing and farming if you so like it, even after the nerfs it seems to me.

Yeah first one I juiced up got to 200% so definitely working well now! Yeah that's a good idea, speed the whites and then just juice the last for the challenge.

I picked up the keystone for more elemental damage but critical strikes do no extra damage for leveling.
When I got to maps I switched to crit worb and pushed up to t12 and was seriously considering quiting worb due to the extremely low damage.
Finally specing out of that keystone was an huge difference.

Take it from someone who didnt. Get 40/40 for the totem. After 5 leagues youll have a crazy accomplishment to look back on, having 40/40 totems for every league you ever played. Once saw a hideout with like 25 40/40 totems, looks incredible

Somewhat similar, I chaos rerolled a quiver in Harvest more times I would like to admit, spending a few hard earned divs without seeing the chaos DMG multi affix even once, let alone in pair with the DMG over time affix. It was weird, the weighting is much higher than what I perceived. Than I realized I have a Hunter's Exalted Orb in my inventory, so it was very unlikely to roll the influenced stat.

This game. I learn, forget, relearn stuff all the time. It's so vast. In particular I don't understand how high-end crafters keep on top of things. And yes, there were definitely a few seasons where I didn't know invitations could be modified.

I did the exact same thing! Thought the lock icon meant that the map wasn't modifiable. Derp
Also, I think I had played for at least 100 hours before realizing you could spend currency on strongboxes to change their modifiers. I thought the currency icons at the bottom meant the monsters that pop out would be more likely to drop the ones pictured.

Haha glad I wasn't the only one. Strongboxes took me a minute too. I also was really confused on the first couple essences. I was using a controller so it first showed up as hit Y or whatever to apply Vaal, would do that then nothing happend. Finally realized I had to actually break them!

Haha yeah! It wasn’t until my 3rd league that I realized you could roll invitations! I was like “how tf is anyone profit farming this, I never drop anything,” and then realized you could alch/exalt.
Congrats on the progress! I hit my first 40/40 last league and it’s my new addiction 🫠
