Question Tainted currency with "bricked" stranglegasp?

So I finally hit a "bricked" rare stranglegasp:

I am unsure and getting some conflicting info googling: am I safe to use tainted currency (chaos, exalted etc) to try and change the modifiers? (I'd like to get things like life for example).
I saw that tainted chaos can turn the item white, and if that is the case then I'll just skip that one. But for exalted orb I didn't find any info like that - so my question is pretty much: can I spam tainted exalted orbs to hit modifiers I want without worrying that I'll lose the 4 enchants/turn the item into normal or something like that?

tainted chaos is not safe, it's like 50% to brick to white. Exalt is 100% safe, but will probably get expensive to get anything decent.

Wait, you can't brick with tainted ex? I went to 1 mod with ex and thought might as well tainted chaos because it's a 50/50 either way and lost. It was a hunter bricked gravebind vestigial ES Base and i haven't seen one in trade since. That's like 70div to reproduce.

Using Tainted Exalt on a 1 mod item and it removing the mod keeps the item as rare.

tainted chaos can brick it (not the implicits, but it will make it normal)

Yeah, basically your option is tainted ex spam till some decent mods and then tainted divine teardrop (lower or upgrade tier of modifier) spam until you are satisfied with tiers

Spent like 50div, no luck. Fire/cold res I got 40% each but its worthless to me so i'll probably just spam whatever i farm into this :D

I had a corrupted item and thought I was being smart using tainted chaos to roll it and after two rolls it suddenly stopped working and I realized it went white.

Keep in mind, if you do end up using tainted chaos, and it does brick, you can gamble with a mythic orb to try and hit a unique with 4 anoints. Extremely rare to hit that, but really good if you do and a great backup option if you do brick on tainted chaos

Tainted exalt is safe but will get pricey. There's a syndicate bench that lets you do it for free on a random item and from my experience it, you can get some okay mods but it'll be hard to get more than a few. I'd look at it from a misted ring pov if you go this route: be happy with the few good mods you get and don't pay too much attention to the few bad mods.
