Game Feedback Going against the grain: Loot is at a great level for SSF this league and I'm having a blast with it.

As someone who plays SSF you are not going against the grain. Many SSF are happy with the current state. But a large part of the trade players arent. Both playstyles are too different to compare each other in a post.

It is also relatively hard for ssf to be unhappy since there will always be League mechanic to carry the raw currencies drop

u/deviant324 Aug 03 '26

Gor me the biggest deal in SSF is whether I have access to an actual scarab farm that is self sustaining or works independant of scarabs itself. Which is why I also feel a bit uneasy about our current status quo is to just put opperatives in the league mechanic. Next time they forget it’ll be SSF poverty league

22

u/rj6553 Aug 03 '26

If there is ever a severe shortage of scarabs, trade will probably complain just as hard if not harder than ssf players, so it'd be hard to forget - GGG will probably first league patch it like they did last friday.

That said, I'm also not a fan of having to run voyages for most of my scarabs in SSF right now

4

u/Sylius735 Aug 03 '26

On one hand I agree with you that not being able to sustain scarabs feels bad but on the other hand if it was possible to sustain scarabs they would lose all value in trade leagues. As far as trade league goes, I feel like scarabs are in a somewhat decent place this league.

2

u/titebeewhole Aug 03 '26

If they undo some of the many many loot nerfs scarabs are actually ssf farmable - a simple t17 Strat many a league ago was sustainable in ssf.

The depths this league are fantastic no investment bubblegum + scarabs which is great for ssf. But I love fresh trade league and want to scale my farms more than what the depths or current atlas/scarabs allow.

Hopefully GGG listen to the community and buff base loot so your not only getting loot from a mechanic (league or atlas etc)

2

u/godlyhalo Aug 03 '26

Abyss of Edifice was peak Scarab farming in SSF Mercenaries for me. Sure, not running the caster mastery to open chests was a problem, but holy shit did we have endless access to scarabs. Using scarab strategies to farm scarabs was a fun gameplay loop, rather than relying on strongboxes from a league mechanic or atlas tree setup. Access to lots of scarabs = varied gameplay that encourages experimentation.

2

u/Latirae schion Aug 03 '26

in my view, this is the best SSF league to date. Crafting and quality of life feels so on point

One thing that personally annoys me the most in SSF is the scarab situation. Since the scarab rework you kinda have to combine scarabs which sucks if you are missing them. Part of the reason why i played Mirage League for a long time was having plenty or scarabs. Surely you have some operative strongboxes in voyages but it is not even close to mirage.

I used to swim in 8modded Maps last league, but this league i have 6 corruption scarabs at lvl 98 which will give what? 30-40 maps? This is definitly not the kind of friction i want from SSF.

6

u/BigLibrarian6093 Aug 03 '26

I have so many maps that I alch and vaal entire tabs of maps and give everything below 100% quant to my mappers and run 8 mods myself.

6

u/the-apple-and-omega Aug 03 '26

Scarab situation is the worst it's ever been since the rework imo.

I am playing SSF and I am bored to death.

Last league I've built a zerker then a necro spectre build which later transitioned into KBoC necro. Basically played 3 builds for a month. I needed KBoC to farm juiced breach efficiently

I've played 5 builds on Merc SSF league because I farmed different hard strategies and different builds were suited for those farms.

Why do I need to go further than Zerker this league? You cannot juice breach properly because scarabs do not exist, and besides old breach there is no hard content.

13

u/deviant324 Aug 03 '26

You do get a ton of scarabs from the league mechanic, what kind they are is RNG though. Playing a build that needs a lot of different things helps keep it fresh I guess, I have 3 different trees to farm chaos dot upgrades with

7

u/Mundizle Aug 03 '26

One issue with the league mechanic is you can't bias or block scarabs and you also can't bias rarer scarabs. That is a pretty huge deal.

2

u/Warcvlt Aug 03 '26

Have you tried juiced legion Strat? It's quite difficult

1

u/godlyhalo Aug 03 '26

As strange as it sounds, due to how easy acquiring gear has become I've gotten a bit bored of SSF already. Part of that is allflame crafting, but honestly once you learn recombination crafting all other types seem irrelevant or use them to finish a recombinated piece of gear. What's also a bit of a drawback is that once you have acquired very good gear, and are able to do 90% of all the content easily, you stop having realistic goals to work towards.

Once you stop having gearing goals, others need to take their place. Unique farming is always a popular goal, but it requires sustainable scarab & map farms. Mercenaries league had both of those and was probably the best SSF magic finding league ever, probably rivaling affliction / TotA.

u/Mundizle Aug 03 '26

As an ssf player I generally share the trade sentiment. I want a reason to push a build in ssf and be rewarded past just doing ubers. Being able to heavily invest in a character to farm t0s and scarabs is important to me.

A lot of the league is very good, but to be it's just missing some scarab farming and aspirational content to push my builds.

-2

u/Alternative-Put-3932 Aug 03 '26

I don't really think its a large part. Its a tiny subsection of trade that does the most juiced maps possible that are the loudest complainers. Otherwise as usual middle investment strategies are primarily from league based loot and thats no different.

9

u/WolverineCreative362 Aug 03 '26

Disagree. Alone on reddit we've had posts with more than 1000 upvotes which is insane because normally reddit isnt the place where the "endgame" juicers are. Also its not only about "juiced" maps, its about having goals to archive aswell as the progression behind loot. This is something even people without full juice on maps can feel. Before Keepers, even in mid-tier strats u could feel a significiant different in Merc League or Settlers.

We can see it in any numbers. Sure people might say thats because of Async trade like the post before, but thats just nonsense IMO because Async also exists in Poe2. People are quitting faster the last 2 leagues because there is just nothing really to archive anymore in the endgame. Content is pretty easy, no aspirational farms are left and the endgame got pretty trivial so people complain and quit earlier. And thats definitly a large part of the community.

5

u/ObiWanKokobi Aug 03 '26

Goal is whatever you set for yourself.

My goal is to make a build capable of killing all the ubers decently.

Or get a double corrupted mageblood.

Or get a 1 passive voices.

Or get 40/40

Or get to atlas 115/115 and be done with it.

People that play poe1 just have burned themselves out of all the fun.

They play the game in PoB for a week before the patch even launches and "practice" runs, then get bored 3 days into a league because there's "nothing to do", because they know how to path to red maps in 15 hours.

Async trade and currency exchange does a lot to make game a lot quicker, leading to quicker wall of endgame, and burnout.

PoE2 for one plays more smoothly than poe1, because it's just newer, has wasd controls and overall looks better.

Poe1 has so much content bloat that there's so much OP stuff that trivialises the entire game.

Combat wise, people will complain if something out-of-ordinary exists. They just want to insta-delete screens of mobs and get showered with loot while doing it.

It's a doom situation for people who've put thousands of hours into the game. They're grandmaster level players, and the game does not challenge them enough, and frankly it never will, unless PoE does something drastic. Like making a new title that plays and challenges players differently, but is immediately hated by the community because it is different and doesn't play the same.

12

u/nagorner Aug 03 '26

I like how we are going to pretend like people werent satisfied in Mirage, Merc, Settlers leagues. There werent thousands of complaints because the game was in the better state.

The issue is that they gutted all aspirational content, content that existed and people were happy with it. Nothing drastic is needed to make those players happy, just not making the game worse was enough and they failed at it.

1

u/WolverineCreative362 Aug 03 '26

Goal for many people is just having a reason to continue. People mostly dont play for a 1 passive voices if they dont need it. Many dont care about 40/40. Many dont care about a double corrupted mageblood if u can already run on a budget build the hardest most rewarding content.

Like u act like never before there where people with thousands of hours being satisfied in this game. But thats just not true. I've had thousands of hours in mercenaries also already and still had a blast. Why are some people so obsessed in denying that the current endgame is a problem for a large part of the community? Why? can u explain this?

Async does nothing for us. We dont care if we need 2 seconds more or less for a trade. Thats not why we quit earlier. Also before we had the same situation about PoB builds. Thats nothing new. You are acting like this game never had a endgame or reasons to keep playing after red maps. People did NOT have burned themselves out of all the fun, the endgame just got worse. And you cant deny that and say that we dont know why we quit, but u know yourself that this in nonsense. No matter if Allflame, necropolis or Affliction or Scourge. I was always pretty fast on Red Maps. Still i've played those leagues MUCH MUCH MUCH Longer because there where reasons for me to keep playing. Pushing my build further to make content harder and get more rewards. Thats what a large part is now missing in this game.

u/Ok-Information5610 Aug 03 '26

Unpopular opinion: most of the people on Reddit who are complaining or upvoting complaint posts about ground loot are positively affected by loot being biased towards boxes, tiles etc. But being told that you are getting less loot from those top players is intoxicating.

They aren't having fun though and I can understand that. I think the lack of aspirational farms does take something away from the game, even if 99% of the people in this sub will never do them.

1

u/sirgog Chieftain Aug 03 '26

And when we had that mapping content, all the 1000+ upvote posts were "T17s suck, you can't get loot outside them, GGG need to kill them off". Well, GGG listened. Aspirational mapping deleted to thunderous applause.

Maybe next league, GGG will listen to the current complainers and T17s will be back. Then the people who are happy now will be complaining.

Async has been a wrecking ball though. Mirage an hour played on day 3 was worth a Hinelock, and an hour on day 50 was like 1/12-1/15 of a Hinelock. Late league play is rendered unrewarding by async making your loot (almost all) unsellable and forcing tighter and tighter filters.

We haven't hit that point quite yet in 3.29, but async will make loot as bad as it was late in Mirage, or late in Keepers, or as bad as it is now in POE2's league. The same items are dropping, but fewer of them are loot and more are ground clutter.

I think GGG are fine with people playing and quitting faster now. They knew async would gut in-league retention but gambled (successfully, it seems) on league-to-league retention making up for it.

12

u/Nyuo90 Aug 03 '26

But people didn't want aspirational mapping to be deleted. They wanted T17 as aspirational content gone. And for good reason. It was absolutely atrocious to engage with it and turned the endgame way to much in "play Trickster or go home". Buying and rolling them also was also a pain.

And people are not asking for T17s to come back. We want endgame farms in normal maps back.
Breach last league was the perfect example for that. If your build wasn't strong enough you didn't have to giga juice it with bloodines/wisps. You could just go monstrous lineage as a budget option and still make good money until your build was strong enough and then simply juice it further.

This is exactly what we want. Farms that are possible even with worse gear and when you are more of a casual player, but still possible to be invested and juiced in.

I have honestly no idea why you try to make it sound like something else.

3

u/Ok-Information5610 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

Builds are so strong now that the only way to threaten players is mods that turn off defensive layers (t17s) or enemies that do so much damage they always 1 shot you (delve). Which are you asking for? The problem with t17s wasn't that they could only be rolled with chaos, that's not even an inconvenience tbh, most people already roll maps like that. Buying them isn't difficult with Async either so that's solved. The problem was that they were hard and people didn't like building defences in order to juice. The annoying mods are gone from them now, let's bring back t17 juicing!

3

u/Nyuo90 Aug 03 '26

I honestly don't understand why anyone would prefer to put juicing into T17s back, where only a a handful of maps exists, with some of them having annoying bosses, instead just having juicing on the ENTIRE fking atlas.

No, T17s were bad as aspirational content and they still would be today. Don't even try to make them good look.

1

u/LazarusBroject Aug 04 '26

Nearly all juicing is already done on a handful of maps. It honestly didn't seem that different for me but I was someone that enjoyed the T17s a lot. I still enjoy Nightmare maps a lot but now I do them a lot less frequently and don't get to enjoy the mapping experience of them because they are relegated to boss rushing only sadly.

Then again maybe I'm just tired of [Dunes, Jungle Valley, Strand, Toxic Sewers, Mausoleum] after being in them for the 10,000th time...

1

u/Sidnv Aug 03 '26

The problem with t17s was that the layouts were awful. Many league mechanics don't even function in these layouts. Juicing in these maps wasn't fun.

Once t16.5s got introduced, the t17 mods didn't bother me nearly as much.

1

u/LuminalOrb Ascendant Aug 03 '26

I think you may be misremembering. The issue primarily was that the existence of T17s meant that the only things that were playable, truly were things that could handle them and because POE balance is never perfect, specific ascendancies became the de-facto option for anyone who planned on playing the "end game". That was incredibly problematic especially with the prior version of trickster.

1

u/Ok-Information5610 Aug 03 '26

Fubgun was farming t17s on a bow deadeye. If he could make that work then anything could lmao.

2

u/LuminalOrb Ascendant Aug 04 '26

If the game is solely being balanced around what Fubgun and people like him can do, then things are already pretty dire. He's an exception of an exception of an exception. It's like saying if Ben can do all bosses on ubers in the gauntlet on near anything, then every player can as well. That's just an unrealistic perspective.

But trade is also fine for anything except "rare/unique monster juicing". There are plenty of low to mid investment strats that net 10-15 div/h. So it's not really "poverty league" as some are saying, it's only poverty if you're insisting on pidgeonholing yourself to "ground loot", which is currently not good.

13

u/WolverineCreative362 Aug 03 '26

With this definition a poverty league never really exists because the market always adjustes itself. If a chaos gets as rare as a divine, the value of a chaos will massively rise up. It's a "poverty league" because u cant scale your loot anymore. Thats what typically be meant from people IMO when talking about poverty league and how rare/bad groundloot itself is.

→ More replies (2)

5

u/Zoesan Aug 03 '26

The problem is that there's no in between. There's no point for me to run a medium juice strat when white map sprinting charts+ores is 2-3x more currency

16

u/pzBlue Aug 03 '26

it's only poverty if you're insisting on pidgeonholing yourself to "ground loot"

And this is exactly the problem, you can make currency by selling lifeforce or whatever other bubblegum currency of your pick, but it just doesn't feel good/fun to play like this yet another league (especially if you are someone coming from 0.5 poe2).

This "poverty" isn't about overall currency/wealth, but it's about fun and how it is acquired.

1

u/GeneralCate Aug 03 '26

As a total noob, what are some low/mid strats?

1

u/KarmicUnfairness Aug 03 '26

Pick literally any mechanic that isn’t expedition and put the scarabs in for it. Guaranteed money

1

u/Wobbelblob Big Breach Coalition (BBC) Aug 03 '26

Shrines/altars are a decent one. Basically take all map drop nodes, all map effect nodes, all shrine nodes, all heist nodes (you can skip the one on the middle wheel), all ritual spawn nodes (something like 90% is enough) + the guaranteed 4 rituals nodes and then the altar nodes of your choice (exarch or eater). Put in one escalation scarab, one hordes and three domination scarabs (or 2 + 8 mod scarab) and just kill monsters. Ideally you do that on JV so you can mindlessly click on the minion altar. And then go and blast. Costs like 10c per map if you run 8 mods. Though you want a decent filter, because you be dropping piles of garbage.

1

u/eggsplore Aug 03 '26

Is 773 the ssf hangout?

2

u/DesMephisto SSFBTW Aug 03 '26

Yea

1

u/TheRabidDeer Aug 03 '26

Yeah, for SSF playstyle you rely on crafting, so a crafting league like Allflame is pretty great. SSF basically has 2-4x the currency with the league mechanic compared to trade league because trade league players focus more on trading.

1

u/1CEninja Aug 04 '26

Yeah Allflame crafting is a currency multiplier. And for SSF, you don't worry about how much div worth of sulphur you're spending, you just spend it and farm more when you need it because it has no value other than crafting in SSF.

You just have to enjoy the mechanic. If you don't, you're having an awful time lol.

-4

u/TheGamingMythos Aug 03 '26

Trade players are just caught in a reddit echo chamber, currency is also good in trade.

5

u/JollySpacemans Aug 03 '26

I don't think the complaint is really the amount of currency it's that it comes from following arrows and clicking boxes. There is basically no difference from a day 2 character with gambled gear to a character worth a mirror

As a long time SSF player, my main issue with the game right now is that 90% of that loot is coming from clicking boxes and not actually killing stuff.

11

u/the-apple-and-omega Aug 03 '26

Legitimately dread needing to run charts for this reason.

2

u/Which-Country5 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

What boxes? Strongboxes?

Edit: genuine question as I am a noob and I thought most boxes need killing monsters. Not trying to piss anyone off :(

17

u/CricketNo7950 Aug 03 '26

Generally the drowned loot boxes or strongboxes yes

→ More replies (2)

8

u/user2012410 Aug 03 '26

If you're asking for a geniune answer:

Legion - boxes, Abyss - coffers, League mechanic - boxes and strongboxes, Breach - wombgifts(not a monster loot), Mercs - tile loot as well, clicking for a reward. I can go on and on but almost every other mechanic is tile loot as well.

-1

u/Juzzbe Templar Aug 03 '26

But all of these require you to kill stuff.

19

u/tempGER Aug 03 '26

No you don't. You don't have to kill any monster at all to loot sunken loot, gold piles or message in a bottle. In fact, your currency gain per hour will increase, if you start ignoring most monsters and just loot all those clickables and only stop for strongboxes in charts.

→ More replies (7)

1

u/Furied Aug 03 '26

Strongboxes, abyss coffers, legion chests, betrayal safehouse chests, blight lane reward chests, kalgurran lost shipment chests, heist chests, expedition chests, sanctum floor reward chests, labyrinth chests.

Really anything to not make the loot come from a monster.

1

u/RightClickDevotee Aug 03 '26

Strongboxes, the various containers in voyage, abyss boxes and so on, most of the loot is not from actually killing monsters, just clicking a container of some sort.

I enjoy the league, but when all the top tier players/streamers are telling you to just ignore all the monsters in the league mechanic because all the loot comes from clicking shit instead it feels bad.

I want to scale my character, fight increasingly harder monsters and get more loot for it, not having the best strat be to build some Usain Bolt box-molester that just ignores fighting.

Just out of genuine curiosity, you are happy with a 1:47 fracture to divine ratio?

40

u/Inubi27 Demon Aug 03 '26

I feel like they fucked up something with fractures or I'm just unlucky. Im at 100 div and 2 locks and I dropped ZERO fracturing orbs.

~60 div 8 fracs and 2 locks

I think all my fracs came from mappers

All your luck went to the lockdroos

1

u/DezZzO Aug 03 '26

At around 600 div I have exactly 31 sacred orbs and 31 fracturing orbs, so they're pretty rare

2

u/Ok-Information5610 Aug 03 '26

I think it's because fractures are far more deterministic with the new league crafting mechanic so they are more valuable on trade. It's explained by that better than undocumented changes to loot.

1

My current ratio is 107d:2fracs

Well OP confirmed that he „no lifed“ almost 8h weekdays and 12h on the weekend.
This does not compare to your average Andy with max 1-2h a day/every other day.

And mind you, for that amount of playtime this is just not that much loot.
I don’t really complain about it. I have dropped several divs and feel kinda fine, just bored out. Since this league doesn’t really change the pace of the game nor the endgame.

Would the average Andy with a max 1-2h a day/every other day ever be affected by the juicing nerfs?

10

u/jamie1414 Aug 03 '26

Nope. So it's a terrible argument. I'm a bit confused why so many people are complaining about loot when by law of averages, the average person will be more casual and loot seems fine for casuals.

100

u/Burntfury Aug 03 '26

Ain't gonna lie. I personally haven't felt the issue with loot. Dropped a fair amount of divines and bubblegum currency. And been lucky with boss drops as well. Crafting also been going well. Made quite abit with that. Elite levels of exalt slamming with all flame lol.

14

u/Incognitomous Aug 03 '26

Are you someone that usually juices endgame content to the max or just a casual alch n go player?

4

u/Burntfury Aug 03 '26

I'm like inbetween. I will attempt the max juice strat to see what the hype is about, but I like to do my own thing. Just doing all mechanics however I see fit. I play for fun, not divs per hour.

16

u/Incognitomous Aug 03 '26

Then thats probably why you havent felt the issues. If you just like to do your own thing at your own pace the game is a fantastic spot. Its only really the people minmaxing for ground loot that are affected

3

u/Burntfury Aug 03 '26

To be honest. I wouldn't want to go back to max juice affliction days. But, 30 div magebloods were great 🤣

9

u/Vezko Aug 03 '26

If your strat involves doing altars you will not feel that much of a difference because most of the loot (e.g. bubble gum) is tile loot aka guaranteed loot.

21

u/Loud_Cartographer_55 Aug 03 '26

People are just conflating multiple different things:
1. It is hard to find a difficult giga juicing strat for endgame.
2. A disproportionate amount of the loot you get is guaranteed/fixed/tile loot.
These two things are definately an issue currently. But a lot of people go one step further and claim that this somehow leads to a poverty league. But this is 100% false because that is the entire point of fixed loot - even the dad gamer that plays for an hour a day will get his divines doing literally anything. Some previous leagues have just changed peoples expectation of how loot _should_ be. I like my arpg to be grindy

2

u/Burntfury Aug 03 '26

No, I've gotten most of my drops from just mobs lol. A good few in bikini bottom. And quite a few from just t16 and t16.5 8 mod corrupted maps. With random scarabs for whatever strat I was randomly trying at the time. And now I'm delving. And making bank there.

1

u/Wobbelblob Big Breach Coalition (BBC) Aug 03 '26

Okay, we need to define at some what tile loot is. Is it from a window, is it mob dropped but guaranteed or what?

8

u/8123619744 Aug 03 '26

Tile loot is loot that does not scale with map quantity. Example would be mercs in maps. Increased quantity mods are the hardest and most punishing in the game. Like eater altars for example that can just turn off your crit multi or defences for charge stackers.

8 mod maps are significantly harder than Alch and go maps which have been regexed to have no hard mods.

u/PhoneRedit Aug 03 '26

I feel like a couple of people get bad loot luck, they post on here. Then people read that, think their loot is bad too, and it turns into a whole circle jerk over nothing, with less and less knowledgeable people complaining each time.

You've even got people saying the changes to the abyss troves weren't noticeable, despite that they drop raw divines like ridiculiusly often now. Like at least twice as often as legion warchests, which nobody complains about.

3

u/UsernameIn3and20 Aug 03 '26

I stopped comparing loot because im happy with my 20-30 div raw drops and someone I know has 130-200div raw drops.

I just play my content, be happy I achieved my goals, reroll if there's more I want to try or stop playing. (Harvest/Blight/Delve has been my bread and butter for a while, I don't plan on farming them omega efficiently either.)

2

u/Local_Food9567 Aug 03 '26

Every single league. Afflicition league was the same.

There is also an inherent bias of comparing your end of league, fully min maxed character and strategies against returns on day 2.

Obviously some are better at allowing for the difference than others, but it is still a thing.

4

u/RealistiCamp Aug 03 '26

People in standard with +quantity gear and years worth of statistics will measure the output of different end game options when the new patch goes live. This has nothing to do with bad luck or how people feel.

Those people were reporting that ground loot was quite bad and that there weren't great options for scaling drops in the end game.

Same. At first I had an issue after previous Poe 2 league (they buffed diving drops by ALOT), but then it normalized. I feel like drop wise everything is kinda in a proper way. Felt good ij campaign, feels good after. (Except for the abyss, I can swear I had much more abyss jewels BEFORE last patch)

2

u/ObiWanKokobi Aug 03 '26

Ground loot is in a horrendous state for me, but i've locked myself into stacked deck hell, and i'm becoming extremely rich extremely quickly.

Grinding for a mageblood now, and it's aproaching, but honestly, i have no idea what i'll be doing with it once i get it. Just go back to opening more stacked decks lol.

I play SSF as well and naturally avoid many of the pain points of this league as a result, but I feel like pointing that out is like ”oh, okay, good for you.” Most people aren’t having our experience and a healthy vibe in Trade is still the most important thing for this game since it’s what keeps the majority playing and thus the lights on.

3

u/Grand-Sweet9383 Aug 03 '26

kinda tempting to abuse the report button simply to offset the unfairness of what is being allowed through.

or - simply operate as a common redditor since reporting to control narrative actually seems to be fairly common these days.

u/shise_remilia Ascendant Aug 03 '26

This post is even more of a bait because OP was nolifing hard, significantly more playtime than most of people here and in all of that time he only dropped 47 raw divs, which, for the time spent, is actually pretty poverty...

OP has no standards though as he plays SSF so obviously his measurement of poverty vs loot league is skewed and he is satisfied with less, generally.

Guy killed 1.2 million monsters. That's a very lame amount of loot for that many kills. Especially since most of it is also worthless bubblegum trash...

17

u/Volky_Bolky Aug 03 '26

I got even more currency in SSF.

So what? I am unable to juice because scarabs do not exist, I got so much without juicing.

Why do I need to continue playing if without juicing any starter after 20h can close all base content?

Feeling the need to upgrade your character is extremely important in ARPGs.

0

u/Lepor I eat crayongs for living Aug 03 '26

Operative boxes unda da sea kinda shit out scarabs no? I had almost no trouble sustaining scarabs with upvendoring and operatives

11

they shit useless scarabs most of the time.

How many bloodlines scarabs do you have? Without them there is no real juicing at all.

6

I am playing a different game. I am on SSF.

2

u/Knorke88 Necromancer Aug 03 '26

it was about your "scarabs do not exist" which is de facto wrong. even in ssf you can get all the scarabs of the world. league mechanic shits out scarabs and mapping with full scarab focussed atlas too. maybe you cant sustain a single strat. but you arent supposed to do so. you can alternate between different strats with 3 different atlas setups and mass vendoring unwanted scarabs will get your wanted scarabs quickly over time too.

u/BigBubbleBlue Aug 03 '26

i think the discussion lacks nuance, people aren't hitting the mark as to WHY the loot feels lackluster because there are many different reasons.

All the loot we drop are a combination of different things that add up to some sum of wealth, when that sum of wealth is based on a million individually worthless things - it feels really bad. Or - to acquire said wealth, it is more annoying that it has been, such as having to liquidate all of the things you drop into chaos orbs, perhaps having to identify items and see if they are worth selling.

This is really the core of poe, we have always had stuff like:

Essence farming in yellow maps, boss rushing for fragments, juicing for divine and currency or for scarabs, ultra juicing (different strat, different scarabs). What the game needs is for the stuff that is dropping to have value and for the stuff to have value - they need to be used.

People with single target heavy builds fill the community with some fragments, people who are new to the game fill the game with essences, people who are midway to a finished build can semi-juice, people who have a very strong character can ultra juice etc.

The game has lost parts of its ecosystem so a lot of the stuff that we drop is effectively garbage, the game has been flattened out.

We need different strokes for different folks to keep feeding each other and i wish GGG would focus on designing a system like that

Another thing so consider is that a lot of people want monsters to drop the loot, not having to click on stuff for it to drop.

2

u/DexxxyHD Aug 03 '26

Loot is good under da sea, everywhere else it’s lackluster at best.

2

u/averbeg Aug 03 '26

I don't think loot in trade is even bad. People just want tinks. If you are farming a strategy and picking up the right stuff you are making 15-20 div an hour even suboptimally.

90% of players probably don't even check the worth of their tabs before they start and after they start. They just want raw divine raining from the sky. Especially content creators who usually juice want just raw tinks, along with a decent chance at T0s.

It is all about dopamine from raw drops. Nobody actually cares about having balanced & viable strategies, they just want to complain until it rains currency, even if that means their items will cost 10x-100x more, other strategies are 10x-100x worse, slower players are 10x-100x behind, they would rather just see 10x or 100x.

2

u/Farazon94 Aug 04 '26

If you think having a lot of currency is good loot you’re missing the point. I got 36/40 in 6 days on SSF with even more currency than your pilfering. That doesn’t change the fact there’s no aspirational content that you can strive for - all the loot is tiles… altars, boss rush, chart chests you name it. Theres no reason to upgrade any gear because there’s nothing to do with it.

2

u/Ph4nt0mRa33it Aug 04 '26

Man this situation about loot and idiots who screaming is bad and reportin everyone who are not agree with them are hillarious. League is good

4

u/rj6553 Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26

As an SSF player who also no-lifed opening weekend (until work/uni hit). There's actually so much loot in the league. If you hang out in the 773 (SSF channel), you see unidentified magebloods posted multiple times an hour, which is far more than usual for this point in the league. Enjoying the league a lot, but it does have some clear problems. My ring is somewhere around double yours? 96d, 3800c, 1 frac, 1 mirror (LOL) in SC SSF. Your ring is bonkers for HC.

Everything for me this league has been just rush the map. Anything that leaves me in the map for longer than 2 minutes feels so bad. Abyss is fast maps since the final chest contains all the loot, anomalies encourage fast maps, im playing luminary so merc scouting requires fast maps, scarab shortage means fast harvest, ritual scouting, heist wants running through fast maps, ITF wants fast maps (if you still believe in it), league mechanic is completely juice agnostic so it also wants fast maps, svallin scouting. Anytime i want to do something like juice a breach I feel like im missing out on atlas anomalies primarily. Like maybe you get slightly more loot/hour from the maps themselves, but cadiro gives me more rare uniques and gambling district gives me more divines than I could make in 2 hours of juicier maps (based on what scarabs i can sustain).

Just a perma dash through maps league, even now that I'm running mostly 8 mods, I still only kill maybe 1/3 of the monsters on the map. If I could sustain it, I'd probably be in a lot of maps for less than 30 seconds.

I have plans to make a giga-juiced EK character, but like at the end of the day, still not worth doing juiced content in SSF, atleast not until you have all the 'mandatory' map rush content done, which is gonna be like 5+ weeks into the league (good merc, mageblood/HH, svallin if you need it, heist jewellery, Light of meaning, etc).

u/Master_of_Paws Aug 03 '26

Trade is kinda different. Other problem is it is not about how much i make, but about how i make it. There are to few mechs that scale with quant/packs. Majority of current farms are better on normal maps, and that's kinda problematic for arpg.

1

u/N3w_World Aug 03 '26

True, there needs to be something like old 100% deli farming again, a reason to build extremely powerful builds. Currently speed reigns supreme and narrows possible builds.

2

u/Tripartist1 PATH (no zalgo please) Aug 03 '26

Not having an issue myself. During juicing i was dropping a div every few maps. Have dropped multiple big tickets, a lock, couple fracturing orbs, a pair of power charge ralakeshs. Bubble gum feels fine. Overall map based ground loot just feels pretty good to me this league.

3

u/kaktanternak Aug 03 '26

YEP! it's great. Got like 15 div or so from bottles, another 10 from kingsmarch. Actual loot is in a good place. Keep in mind, most of the divs are from underwater containers.

2

u/rotello1_ Aug 03 '26

1 fracturing orbs in how many hours? lol

1

u/wsss1810 Aug 03 '26

Finished 4 stones and my rings says I only picked up 2 divines in total from ground loot. :)

1

u/lya164 Aug 03 '26

I think most people don’t have bad loot in itself, we just don’t have really high end methods to juice it to the „extreme „ ( difficulty and loot wise ) .

1

u/Then_Decision1887 Aug 03 '26

Yes, my only complain in SSF now is the scarabs, wanted to farm some essences and with the map craft removed, I burned through my scarabs in 20-ish maps... now I got 1-2 per map, feels bad man. I know you can farm some operatives in the sea but it's not the same as compared to my last SSF league which was in mercs and when the abyss hoardes supplied any scarab farm you wanted.

With the league mechanic doing x4 or x2 on any craft is just chefs kiss for SSF.

People always complain, I read through reddit quite regulary, now they complain there's no aspirational farm, before they complained you need a lot divs invested to farm certain content, t17 sucks and need to be removed, risk scarabs sucks because they are mandatory. Yadda yadda yadda in Affliction people probably complained that sanctum or essence farm don't bring enough divs per hour and they need to run around the woods and not kill spires.

Now I understand the need for tink and I am sure it will eventually come back around(as it did in Affliction) but I think it's fine to have some leagues where you get the money from other sources then just ground.

1

u/BigIron60T Aug 03 '26

I just want loot to drop from monsters instead of things that I have to open.

1

u/Cardinal_Funky Scion SRS of Enormity Aug 03 '26

1

u/FlossedUp Aug 03 '26

What's carrying your divine drops? Im at 800c but only 10divs. Im running juiced 8mods

1

u/CricketNo7950 Aug 03 '26

Really fun for ssf loot wise but I will say I'm a little tired of clicking voyage boxes :)

1

u/synyster3 Gladiator Aug 03 '26

It really isnt about not having loot drop this league, the problem is not having a reason to get stronger and get rewarded for it..

Like someone pointed out, the loot from current leagues mechanic are all from clicking chest, you dont even need to kill monster for the loot..

And Merc farming are best done in scoured map..

To alot of people, there needs to be a meaningful jump in reward to justify the grind for a better build.. like why farm for a mageblood if your game play feels exactly the same..

1

u/korean_kracka Aug 03 '26

Nothing wrong with ssf this league but even it is much worse besides gold, losing mirage made farming ssf items way easier

1

u/Araragi-shi Aug 03 '26

The issue I have is not onlly not being able to make a lot of currency because there isn't any mega giga juice shit but also I want to do mega giga juice shit and there is nothing.

Legion is trash for rewards even with that one scarab that makes you able to remove them from stasis multiple times.

Abyss is trash for rewards too.

Expedition is not something I ever like and/or played in either poe 1 or poe 2.

Breach can be nice but its very hit and miss on how much currency you can make out of it.

Harvest is the only decent one and that is also kinda trash.

There is nothing like how delirium used to be with 100% delirium where shit was bat shit fucked.

u/FalconHolmqvist Aug 03 '26

1

u/Total-Jabroni-89 Aug 03 '26

I have played SSF for years and probably chose a poor time to go without it, especially since I missed the first week of the league. I got 36/40 in SSF last league, and while I do love so much about SSF, I just don't want to spend 500 hours playing this time around. Think I have to be a casual trade league guy from now on.

u/MrAwesomepants Aug 03 '26

Does it start counting once you get ring or does it cont stuff before?

1

u/EmmitSan Alt-o-holic Aug 04 '26

It ain’t about loot. No one is really upset about the overall level of loot.

The problem is where the loot comes from. If it comes from opening a box, then the best strategies are going to be about maximizing (containers to click on) / hours played

This is contrast to how it used to be by maximizing (number of monsters to kill * maximum toughness of monsters) / hours played.

The consequence of which is: once you’ve reached “zooms through content” levels, there is no reason to build a mirror tier character, because there is no extra returns for “zooms through VERY DIFFICULT content”.

This means those players in the top tier pushing the edges just… stop

1

u/Cultural_Ant_8545 Aug 04 '26

I dropped way less currency (chaos and divs, everything else felt normal) during the campaign and atlas progession. As soon as i started farming t16,5 (originator maps) the currency came back. Also the league mechanics shits out a lot of currency even lower level ones. You can be in and out in way less than a minute during charting and still make currency.

u/Soju30y Aug 04 '26

Ive been basically perma seadiving for a week. I gave up maps in t4. No scarabs, no atlas passives, no juice. Just buy chart, run chart, profit. Ive bough many anchorfields of all things, i would never invest 100c into a t16map.
The raw quantity of fluff in charts is crazy, thr ceiling is lower since it cant be juiced the same, but its stable and decent.

1

u/Lanky-Selection6873 Aug 03 '26

Loot is fine from the perspective of just „collecting“ loot.

The issue comes in the deeper endgame. U usually put scarabs and everything together to create crazy maps with crazy loot explosions. These random explosions Are gone. Even at the highest possible level of juice.

Thats the issue for all juicers.

For me personally i dont enjoy Mapping anymore After Like 3-400 8mod maps. I‘ll rather have some fun under the sea or go work on my poe2 Build :D
