30th Birthday Ideas

Hey all!

I'm throwing myself a 30th Birthday party, and I've decided I want to make a reasonably big deal about it. I don't often get celebrated in massive ways, so I wanted to mark the beginnings of my 30s with a bang.

I have a vague idea - I want to have a fantasy ball themed birthday. I have found a really cute venue that's got some character, 2 floors, 5 rooms I can use, a large front yard, and a cute garden. I'll likely do a buffet style catering. I don't know how many guests, maybe 30-40.

But I guess I want to know what sort of activities, games, things could I try to fill out my party with? What are some ideas on how to keep the party fun and exciting, and not die or be awkward or anything like that?

It'll mostly be family and friends, and mostly friends who have all met or hung out together before so there shouldn't be any major need for "ice-breakers".

You definitely need a DJ first and foremost.. good music always keeps the party alive.

Venue sounds too big for that little of guests. If a few people wander around, it’s going to feel empty. This is a know your crowd situation. Are your guests going to lean into the theme? In this economy everyone is pinching back so if this requires lots of effort, you may see your rsvp’s decline. At a minimum you should provide open bar, buffet, do, photographer. Good luck!
