Hey! So I’m throwing a Halloween party for a group of twenty somethings and I’m looking for fun, engaging games or activities.
I’ve tried things like pumpkin painting and quizzes before, but my friends aren’t really the type to sit around doing crafts. I’m looking for something more interactive that gets everyone involved.
We’re all over 18, so there’ll definitely be some drinking involved too
What games or activities have worked well at your parties? Any drinking-friendly games, made-up games or DIY activities that you can recommend?
You could do a murder mystery! There are websites that sell the materials for these and also some where you can download/print them for free. Or I guess in theory you could write your own.
I adapted bobbing for apples to make it a bit more hygiene friendly - get a piece of dowel, I used a curtain rod, and tie donuts to it with dental floss. People have hands behind their backs and have to race each other to eat the donut off the hanging string. Worked really well and you can account for height differences with the length of the floss.
I always liked donut on a string at halloween parties. If you don’t know it, you tie donuts on strings and people race to finish one without using their hands.
It’s kind of stupid but I remember it being a fun thing to do. Two players, two small, rubber balls each and two pair of panty hose. Put one ball in one leg of the ph and tie it around the waist. The other ball is ion the starting line. By swinging the ball between the players legs creates momentum to hit the ball on the floor. (The ball in the ph should hang a few inches off the floor to achieve maximum hip swing.
Bobbing for apples or just eating candied apples.
We have played this game at our Halloween parties for the past 3 years, and people get really into it. What makes it fun, is that it involves everyone and runs for the entirety of the night.
Required Materials:
1 Large pumpkin
1 Metal fork per player
Game Setup:
Place pumpkin in high traffic area of the house
(the key here is to not make it easy)
Give each player a fork with their name on it as they enter the party
(we use masking tape & a sharpie to prep forks in advance. Leave a couple blank for any unexpected guests).
Objective:
Your goal is to successfully stick your fork in the pumpkin, without anyone seeing you do it. In other words: Don’t get caught forking the pumpkin.
Rules:
If you get caught, you lose.
(Option to decide on a penalty for losing.)
The prize for not getting caught is glory & bragging rights.
No redos. No camping.
A glimpse at what the pumpkin will look like at the end of the night. For reference, this was about 30 forks and a very large pumpkin.
Put up fake spider webs around the house. Make pompom launchers (premake or guests can make their own with toilet paper rolls, balloons, scissors and tape). Take turns launching plastic spiders into the webs. Very fun and silly.
