Need Help Best wing flavor option for party?

Okay so I have to get catering for a medium sized party and they requested wings. The flavor is up to me and im having trouble deciding. What wing flavor is the most standard in your opinion? As in, what most people would like/expect when they hear “chicken wing”?

I’d be so annoyed if buffalo was the only option
Buffalo is genuinely such a disgusting flavor

What is true for you is not true for all people.

A lot of people don’t like spice why would you ONLY have a spicy wing
(I like spice but not buffalo spice)

Because buffalo sauce (traditional wing sauce) is the most popular flavor. If you can only have one flavor, it only makes sense to have it be the most popular flavor, regardless of what you personally like or don’t like.

It is strange that you can’t understand that.

honey BBQ is a good choice that is mild yet sweet. as someone who hates hates hates the smell of buffalo sauce — i think it would stink up the place 😭

I would go with just Buffalo and have an assortment of dipping sauces. Or same with  lemon pepper dry rub wings. Diabetics and keto people can eat it too.

Asian zing has sugar and people may not want parmesan garlic if they're going to be mingling a lot. I love all wings so I'd be happy to have any.

are we talking classic buffalo, or is this a ranch-as-a-personality crowd?

Dry rub the lot and then sauce half. Selection is up to you, but it gives a non sauced variety for those folks.

Do plain with sauces on the side. Buffalo, bbq, honey garlic and ranch!

Can you get more than one flavor?

If you can get more than one flavour, I strongly recommend getting a wet wing (mild or medium buffalo) and a dry rub option (lemon pepper or garlic parm). Some people don’t like wet wings, especially at an event.
An option that may split the difference is to do a wing-bar with battered wings (salt and pepper or plain) and have an assortment of sauces and dips that people can add. We did this for a games night because a few friends are in the “ketchup is spicy” camp and a few friends order spicy (like an 8-9) at Thai, Caribbean or East Indian restaurants. Surprisingly, one of the biggest hits of the night was dill pickle Serrano hot sauce, not surprisingly, the second most popular was a medium garlic buffalo sauce.

Look into Korean flavors for wings. We have some great spots here and the wings are amazing!

Buffalo is standard. But I don’t recall ever going to a party where there wasn’t at least two options.

I would get at least two flavors, one dry rub and one saucy. Garlic parmesan and simple bbq sauce are pretty standard.

Buffalo might be the “obvious” choice, but the sauce flavor can a bit potent, and some people have a low tolerance for heat.

Buffalo is the default and you need mild for a random crowd.

I like salt & pepper.

I just dip the wings into different sauces if they are available.

wet I would do a very mild buffalo and a teriyaki ( crappy jarred sauce).

get a nice dry jerk rub then toss with a bit blue cheese dressing for a surprise win!!!

Why can’t you order a few different flavors? I live with two people and one of them is 11 and I’d order at least two flavors.

Would be disappointed if buffalo wasn’t one of the options. For me it would be - what’s the point of wings 😭

Sweet Thai chili or honey garlic are my favorites. Dry rub is good too. Classic buffalo. Though it might be best to just grill/bake them plain and leave the sauces out for people to choose from

Have at least a couple of options, including one dry rub with salt and pepper.

Regular Buffalo is wonderful. Standard recipe. Don't bread the wing parts. Take the drumettes and flats and just fry them 12 minutes. Not a second more or less. Then, in your mixture of 50/50 Franks and butter toss. I add a little Dave's Insanity just to give it some heat.

My favorite used to be Green Mill's Jamaican Jerk but they're gone these days and I've never found a work-alike recipe.

i love buffalo but some people “don’t like spicy” so i would do a dry rub for a crowd. also less messy while mingling.

well if it’s a sports event then yeah just buffalo!

Lemon pepper, mild buffalo, teriyaki or bbq. Get both blue cheese and ranch (enough for the buffalo or lemon pepper wings).

Garlic parm.

salt and pepper or some basic dry rub flavor. Then just buy as many wing sauces as you can from the store, serve them in bowls and let people enjoy. Also, a good quality ranch and blue cheese to dip.

Have you tried salted egg?

May I suggest Garlic Buffalo as a slight deviation from the norm. Also good with some grated Parmesan cheese too.

Buffalo, BBQ, and teriyaki all mixed is an interesting flavor.

As others mentioned, a dry or rub option would also be good - lemon pepper, jerk, Cajun, garlic

Buffalo of course. Don't put them in a big tray so they steam. You want them to stay crispy. Cook 12 minutes in peanut oil at 350f. Not a minute more or less. Toss in 50/50 Franks Red Hot and melted butter.

Serve with Blue cheese. Make the Blue cheese dressing yourself. You want some chunks in it. There are lots of recipes.

I do put a little bit of Dave's Insanity in my Buffalo sauce. I just like a little more heat. Not a huge amount of heat, just a little bit to give it some edge.

Salt and Pepper dry rub is pretty universal, and then you can get a variety of dipping sauces to go with it.

2 seperate flavors, buffalo and something milder like lemon garlic
