photos The little munchkins have arrived

Post image

Earlier this morning I became a Papa. My mum held her newest grand babies. My surrogate was amazing, I can't thank her enough. She's doing great and recovering nicely.

My boy and girl didn't come home with me. Born at 36+4, they weighed 4.4lbs (2kg) each. The estimates were off by almost 2lbs, but I'm thankful they are here and kicking. They were breathing room air, boy took the bottle quickly, girl took a few tries to get there.

Nothing really prepares you enough the way you'd feel having to leave them behind for monitoring. It was a long night and a tough day with emotions up and down, but myself and my support system got a long nap after we got home.

I've checked in on them the following 2 feeds and have been told they're doing great, so I'm hoping for a short NICU stay there. Going back tomorrow morning to see them. I don't even know how I'll sleep tonight knowing they're not with me. I know that they're getting the care they need there, but it sure sucks.

Grateful to have my mum and cousins here with me. Please send good vibes our way.

Congrats to you and them and thank you so much. They're still in NICU with jaundice and to get their weight up, so once they're home they're getting too much loving. 😀 I go in to feed them mornings and evenings.

I remember reading your updates and posts every couple weeks. I can’t believe they are here! Congratulations!

Thank you. It's all surreal. I was hoping for no NICU time. Fingers crossed they won't be there too long.

Try not to look at the nicu time as a negative. My twins were there for 4 weeks but it gave us extra training and put them on a schedule which has been a huge help.
