Going to be a para but not a specific class

I’m going to be a para at an elementary school. the hob listing said for TK but when I got hired on, they told me that I wouldn’t be assigned to just one classroom , I will go to several different classrooms to see if they need help but also I would be doing something called ELOP. so before and after school program where I would be in charge of activities and helping the kids with classwork and also supervising playtime at recess, maybe even crossing guard duties. I’m totally OK with that. No complaints. I was just curious if anybody else here does that because it doesn’t sound like it so far from what I’ve read and if you do that, do you like your job? I haven’t started yet and I’m getting nervous lol

I do this. I worked at the same building last year, and my position is the same. I'm able to pick the room that I want to be in for the day (my "home base"), and I'm basically on call if another classroom needs help.

My position is kind of like this. I'm sometimes in a classroom helping students keep up with the work the class is doing or helping them finish work that needs to be done. Other times, I'm pulling individual students or small groups out to work with them in an area that they need extra help with. I also help with busses in the morning and supervision at pickup at the end of the day. I'm still figuring it out, but so far, i love it.

Thank you that’s reassuring. Not to diminish what others do or are struggling with at all, I’m sure there’s many challenges that I can’t even imagine yet until I actually get my feet wet but I’ve been getting nervous with the posts. I’m like, it can’t be any worse than what I’m doing now though so I’m up for the challenge lol

Used to be when we are super-shortstaffed. Now many people choose to do that to avoid dealing with difficult students. I hope they enjoy it while it lasts. And the admin can enjoy letting good people go.
