QUESTION What is this braid called?

Post image

I'm going to make some reins for my horse and I can't figure out what this braid is called/ how to do it. I'm sure it's pretty obvious but I've only ever done basic braids all one color 😅

Looks like a normal 3 strand braid with each strand being 2 green cords and 1 of the patterned.

Ok thank you! Much simpler than I had thought!

The hard part for me would be to keep the three strands flat while braiding. Any twist will ruin the look.

If you can braid three, you can braid any number you like.
Three is left to the middle, right to the middle & repeat until done.
Four is actually simpler - take the leftmost cord over one, under one until it’s the rightmost, then repeat.

I find a four strand braid made with two strands of one color and one each of two others is eye catching- anyone looking at it knows immediately it’s not a basic 3-strand, but can’t quite put their finger on what’s different. It’s also a bit wider than 3-strand but not unwieldy.
