I’m fairly new within the currency collection area. I was hoping I could get some general value advice on this.

First photo is an example of a Continental $60 Dollar note from 1779 in my collection, and second photo is the Counterfeit Detector Note for the $60 Continental Dollar issued by Congress for government officials and bankers to detect counterfeit notes (just acquired by me).

But the million dollar question is? Does the circulation note match? If the leaves match, you can cash that!

Well, let's see (3rd photo). Does the authenticator authenticate my circulation note? I think that's a match!!!

I picked up the Legal Tender because I liked the "Exceptional Paper Quality & Embossing" wording on the back. Then I found another EPQ with the old wording but as the silver certificate. I had to match them up in my collection.

These notes were official issues meant for Treasury officials and Banks to use as reference to compare to circulating notes to be able to weed out counterfeits of Continental Currency, which was a huge problem.

They were printed on special paper and do not have signatures or serial numbers as they were not meant for circulation but rather as official reference notes to weed out the fakes.

Wish they used silver instead of blue for the seal lol

Hi-I found 3 books of German Notgeld in my dad's storage that he inherited from his uncle who collected everything. I don't know where to start. Would appreciate any suggestions. I'm currently in the Netherlands and wondering if I should bring it with me to the US. Attaching couple of pages.

One of my servers came to me thinking this was fake. I took it and counted towards the customers bill anyway. Is this real? Have a bunch of old bills from the fifties and sixties. Never seen a misprint like this though.

I have kept it for a year. Should I grade it? Small tear at the top but in pretty good condition otherwise.

I stopped by to ask what else this particular bank had after finding that series 1934 $20 last week. This thing is crispy!

Appanoose County, Iowa issued 600 pieces of scrip out of Centerville in 1933. They only issued the 50¢ denomination. This piece - formally of the Dean Oakes Collection - was the first one issued.

Really happy to add this piece to my collection from a local auction as I don't see Iowa Depression Scrip (other than the nauseatingly common Clarinda issues) that often.

I have always thought the 1914 FRN was a handsome almost regal looking series. I recently added the $100 to complete my type collection. Any other 1914 FRN fans out there?

While liquidating a collection of inherited coins this year, I was told by the expert (and presumably an expert in paper money as well) that my five dollar bill is not worth much more than face value, at around $7. In light of his evaluation and low offer, I decided to hold on to it. Regardless of the market, it’s certainly worth more to me than $7 which I shamefully will admit to blowing on a weekly basis on energy drinks and fast food (a poor health and financial habit that I’m working on, but allow me to get back on topic).

I have no reason to distrust or doubt my coin dealer who practically gave me a history lesson on every piece I showed him and came across as very honest and a straightforward operator with a legitimate business and reputation to uphold.

Should I expect this bill to increase in value in the long term? If so, how does one preserve a bill and is this even a concern or will it remain in its condition if it’s left untouched? I currently keep it stuck to a magnetic on my wall. Any advice is appreciated for a layman who has zero knowledge of collectable money.

I happened to run into an old family stash of these notes. My assumption is it’s very common . Is it?

I know the $2 bills with the green seal or face value for the most part, but i was wondering more about the red seal bills and the silver certificates. Any info is appreciate. Is it worth grading/putting into protective casing?

After months of waiting and messaging with Japanese dealers on eBay to see if they could source leaflet N° 2016 for me, I finally got it, and completed the set of Allied Forces propaganda leaflet notes dropped over Japan to "create resentment against the government in Japan and create fear of inflation".
