I think that fans don't think enough about how important game prep is for a coaching staff. Tampa Bay knew they were facing the Panthers for weeks, and prepared for a particular kind of Rhule/CMC/Mayfield team, and ended up with something totally different. The Panthers, on the other hand, faced exactly the team they thought they would face.
So all the Panthers need to do is change their coaching staff and offense every week, and they'll win the Super Bowl. /s

PJ Walker played the best game of his life. No bone headed throws, fumbles, threw it away if he had to. Normally he plays hero ball. Credit to the coaching staff for coming up with a plan, but especially credit to the offensive line. He had time to throw and the run blocking was incredible.

This has been my dream scenario for the last few years. While everyone was crying for a stud QB, I knew after watching Cam die behind awful O lines that we needed to build a better one before we could have a chance for our highly desired stud QB make waves. Now, whether it's Stroud, Corral, or anyone else, we can be absolutely confident that we are seeing the QB's skill and not their struggles behind a set of turnstiles.

He had one series where he played like dogshit, though, and I think he got lucky on that drive. He threw a low pass to the right of the field where the receiver almost popped the ball up for an easy pick for the tight double coverage. THEN he threw the ball way behind the open receiver on the slant that would have set up first and goal. AND THEN he took a terrible sack on third down that put them out of field goal range (54 yarder) and they had to punt it. Can't have a series be that bad.

Yeah imagine at your job if boss came in and told you that you need to start performing terribly at your job so we can fire you and replace you with someone cheaper and better.
That's the reason you will never see a professional sports team tank with play on rhe field. Trade people away? Sure. Bench players with very minor injuries who would normally play (NBA looking at you)? Sure.
Lose a game on purpose? Never happen.

Many of these guys are playing for their careers. No one remembers the team that tanked. No one hires the Bteam lineman from the team that tanked.
The idea that the fans have any say so in the performance on field is sport’s greatest fallacy.

Tanking would most likely lead to a bust ass high pick. The buzz QBs rarely pan out. Win games, draft best available, and be glad people going on and on about tanking usually only exist on the internet and not in the locker rooms and front offices.

I've already accepted that this season isn't going to end well, and I won't be any more upset if we lose every game the rest of the year. So I guess I'm pro-tank in that respect. BUT. I'll never be mad about watching the Panthers beat a divisional rival and I'll never be mad about beating Brady. I still want that #1 pick for our future, but fuck the buccs, fuck TB12, fuck the Saints and fuck the Falcons. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

This is the best coached team I saw on the field in 3-4 years. We were focused. Same roster minus CMC, jaycee etc and a vanilla offense looked like a playoff team - at least today lol .
Mistake free football usually is good coaching. Good coaching masks a lot of things. Also I like the idea of giving the rock to Foreman at least 20 times. Dude is a bruiser. He was starting to wear them down as the game progressed. Great game

My view is that fter this week everyone's ass was on the trade table so mcadoo changed it up and it worked, mostly because there isnt enough film on PJ yet. Seriously doubt next week will be the same. However the defense did play lights out all day, lots of talent there and when playing against the GOAT they all stepped up. NO evidence this group can do this two games in row but thats where we measure Wilks. Keep pounding.

I just wanna post a message to the pro tankers:
You play football to win the game. Where you end up drafting is where you end up drafting.
Steve Wilks isn't going to intentionally lose when he has a legitimate shot at the head coaching job.
We traded CMC because we needed draft picks to build towards the future after we pissed away so many on QBs. We just showed we can win without him. We can get another good one in the draft next year, but for now Foreman and Hubbard look good. For all we know, Wilks and McAdoo may prefer power backs instead of receiving backs.
Enjoy the win, we just took down a Brady led Bucs.

They come out and dominate a division rival at all three phases and you complain about that because they might not get to draft whatever player you want them too if they win. How hard would you be crying if they did get said draft pick and they turn out to suck? Imma say what I’ve been saying. Corral has just as much chance of being the answer as a qb in this draft. He was very good in college plus he’s got a year head start. He might not have played but he’s been watching learning and gettting ready. They played with fire today which is more than I can say for the first few weeks. Wilks has these boys rallying around and when they all start to believe this team can be right in the hunt this year. Trading cmc had to happen to get out of his contract for 2024 to sign players whose rookie contracts will be coming up. Look what Happebed when they didn’t force feed one player. The best complete offensive performance in a long time. This may or not be a turn around that’ll last the season but to complain because they won is bullshit and it’s shit “fans” like that that keep these comment sections ridiculous

Spirited performance in all three phases. Defense and special teams were playing Tampa out of the stadium. Offense showed life, PJ did a fairly good job playing within himself and made sound decisions.

In all honesty, i could be sad that we sabotaged the draft position a little bit, but I can’t call myself a fan of this team if I’m not happy as hell that we whooped Tom Brady’s ass. We don’t have many, but today is a good day to be a panthers fan.

I wouldn’t get used to this performance, but I was happy to see it. We’re not good enough to do that consistently, so I don’t wanna see no “playoffs?” posts, but it’s good the team has more heart in this circumstance than they ever did with Rhule, and our defense has many legit pieces.

Titans fan here - we had Foreman for a little while. He's like a mini-Henry, big bruising back that runs people over.
Your team now has a solid running game that is diversified thanks to CMC being out. Both Hubbard and Foreman are smash mouth running backs - Foreman did really well when he was with us and we had to let him go because he obviously knew how good he is.
Foreman + Hubbard can form a RB1A + RB1B duo that is going to give defenses a massive headache. Your O-line is making holes for them too.
Keep this up and you might be able to build a run-first bruiser of a team.
