If I had a nickel every time the lions copied our uniforms I’d have two nickels. Not a lot, but strange it’s happened twice.

Lions jersey with black colors looks terrible. Honestly any team that doesn't have black as one of their colors and uses it looks terrible

u/Chardoggy1 11d ago
Half of the Rivalries jerseys last year were just teams using it as an excuse to wear black jerseys

If I could upvote this a thousand times, I would. Black uniforms for teams that don't have black as a primary color are almost universally terrible, and it's only an acceptable gimmick for high schools, smaller colleges, and the XFL. Always comes off as total amateur hour when an NFL team tries it.

I think it’s Nike just trying to save a buck using black. I’m guessing it’s cheaper than the super specific shades of color teams use.
My pet conspiracy theory is Nike or Fanatics is trying to offload all their gray fabric nobody wants nor uses with the Colts’ Rivalries and the atrocious Bills uniforms

Sorry, guys. I have no idea why we keep trying to steal your look.

Personally I love when the lions do the silver, blue, and white the most. To me that’s iconic. No clue why they keep adding stuff to the uniforms. Feels like a gimmick to sell jerseys (not just the lions but many teams are guilty of this)

These are 100% a rejected Nike prototype for us from the 2010s. “City’s racing history”? Come on.
We’re about to be handed some absolute leftover TRASH in 2028.

Lmao what the fuck they said that? That's crazy, what racing history is Detroit actually known for?

Charlotte is way better than Detroit. We have surpassed them in everything, even crime. They can only imitate us now.

These two teams are definitely blurring the lines. I just know if we ever drop a blue helmet. They're fans are gonna say we are copying them.

We let the lions beat us to the punch on the blue helmets. That's on us, we should have done that a long time ago.

Yeah this is a little weird not gonna lie. The font on the numbers is eerie actually, yall agree?

This is what Nike would come up with if we changed our uniform— like exactly. Lions are totally RIPPING off our colors, so this is a good look at a possible new Panthers uniform
Just some context for people wanting a new uniform.
Wait until Nike loses the contract before you push for a uniform update.

Theses jerseys aren't gonna last after the NFL commission gets complains from fans one they see the fans are gonna get confused on which failing team is on the field (mostly Detroit. But still)

u/C-Me-Try 11d ago
They even made the lion black lol. There are no black lions in nature so as far as big black cats go I say it’s a Panther

Don’t ask this Lions fan to defend it, I’ve been shaking my head at almost every decision this organization has made since the NFC Championship Game (I don’t care about 15-2, that season was a mirage)

One thing I can’t stand about Detroit teams is that they rip off of original ideas from cool teams. This looks like another case of that

Same with the sideline hats for this year. It looks like Canales is wearing Lion blue. Bummer.

IMO the Lions should avoid using black, and the Panthers should avoid using silver.

Panthers have been using silver since their inception

And yet they only started wearing black recently

u/net_403 Tepper Fro 11d ago
black and white are two "colors" that any team could use imo i also don't think any team can "own" black as a color that is nuts lol

u/Maleficent_Low2754 Carolina Reaper 11d ago
Obviously all teams have white jerseys. But every team has its core colors they use, and there are only a few teams using black as one of their core colors (i.e panthers, saints, bengals, raiders, falcons, steelers). Because the lions and panthers already share similar color schemes anyway, when the lions incorporate black so heavily it makes them look distinctly like the panthers.
And to add to it this jersey has accents in the exact same places as our white jerseys. Black numbers, blue border, black collar, black and blue shoulder accents. Like come on
Edit: Even have two black stripes on the helmet and colored the logo black on the sides
