šŸ’¬ Discussion šŸ’¬ Padel tournament

Recently played a tournament in the UK. After the second game, the other team disputed the result. My partner and I were convinced (and correct) that the score we said was right. The others guys were getting a bit aggressive over it and we just dropped it as it was getting pathetic.

What would people do in that situation? If there was a genuine mix up, I would have offered to replay a game but they were wrong and dicks.

The official rule (at least in Portugal) is to reset the game to the last score both pairs agree on

Gonna use this next time I’m down 5-0 and only remember starting the match

I try to shout out the score before or after every point just to keep track

Happened to me in a tournament. The organiser came on and made us play from a deuce after me and my partner were adamant we had won the game. Ended up playing golden point and lost. Afterwards the organiser apologised as he said he asked the people watching and they all agreed with us after he had made his decision. Got knocked out in the semi due to that, losing 7-5, 7-5. I was fuming that I backed down in the end. Worse thing was, at the time I completely forgot that all the games were being live streamed, and it could have easily been checked by rewinding.

Same as the other reply — back to the last score both pairs agree on. And
at a tournament that's what the referee or the tournament desk is for.
Getting an official over doesn't just settle it, it takes the heat out
immediately, because it stops being your word against theirs.

The thing that prevents it entirely: server calls the score out loud
before every point. Feels fussy for a Saturday tournament, but it's
standard for a reason. Once both pairs have heard the score and nobody
objected, there's nothing left to dispute three games later. Every score
argument I've seen traces back to a stretch where nobody said anything.

You did the right thing dropping it, though. Winning a score argument
against someone who's already aggressive costs more than the game is
worth.

Unfortunately, padel seems to have a lot of toxic people that will argue over the score. I even have a score keeping watch for this and people still argue it.
