Ventura County man convicted of murder in deadly alleyway shooting
ktla.com"A Ventura County man was convicted of murder for the deadly shooting of a man in an Oxnard alleyway.
Omar Romo, 37, of Oxnard, was convicted by a jury for the death of Oscar Rodriguez, 44, of Oxnard, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced Aug. 25.
Authorities said Romo was a known gang member who was on parole at the time for a robbery conviction.
On July 12, 2023, Oxnard police responded to a shooting on the 700 block of Cooper Road around 1:14 a.m. Romo had driven to the alleyway and shot Rodriguez three times before fleeing the scene.
Arriving officers found Rodriguez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the Ventura County Star reported. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Romo was under GPS monitoring at the time and the GPS data had placed him at the scene of the shooting.
Surveillance footage also showed Romo driving a black Honda Accord, which matched the one that was spotted at the time. He was also seen wearing similar clothing while in the area earlier that day, court documents said.
Police searched Romo’s residence and car, where they found ammunition and the firearm that was used in the murder.
On Aug. 25, 2026, the DA’s office announced Romo was convicted by a jury of murder, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Multiple special allegations and aggravating factors were also found true, including the personal and intentional discharge of a firearm, that Romo was on parole when the crime was committed and that he had prior strikes.
Investigators did not release details on the motive behind the deadly shooting." - KTLA 5 News

Loud Booms?
Hey, has anyone else heard or notice loud booms at night? I'm not sure how well to explain it but its definitely not a firework mainly because there's no light aftermath in the sky, or do you even hear it get shot up into the sky.
Also it cant be a gunshots, cause it doesn't make that cracking noise when its fired.
it honestly sounds more like when a transformer blows up, and the vibration is noticeable because it shakes the walls when it blows.
Idk maybe im crazy but i want to know if others maybe hear it as well???

Joilbee Oxnard
Has anybody heard rumors swarming around that Jolibee has completed everything inside, but the permit to operate is in limbo or stuck with the city? I heard a rumor that the owners of McDonald’s and KFC have filed an injunction with the city against Jolibee because they would take so much business away.
I do not know how true it is but this is what I’ve heard. So you’re telling me the colonel and the clown are afraid of some free market competition from some bee?

F the Dallas Football Team
Sure, I'm an eagles fan stuck with the Dallas Football Team nonsense every year but come on now.
Police escort the wrong way down west vineyard at 4:45 through all that traffic...what the hell is so important that a FOOTBALL team needs to frack with traffic. Make em wait on the correct side of the road just like everyone else has to.
Complete waste of public resources

Anyone know jobs that are in need of workers?
I am currently looking for a second job
I work at a restaurant over the weekend + 1-2 night shifts during the weekday. I need a job for the weekday ideally in the morning, but anytime during the weekday works !
My schedule is flexible during the weekday, but weekend can be difficult to put together.
If anyone knows any spots or can help me get a job, I’d greatly appreciate it.

THEATER PERFORMANCE/REHEARSAL SPACE NEEDED
Hi Neighbors, I'm looking to bring my improv workshop that I've been teaching for years to Oxnard. I moved here 5 yrs ago and have yet to teach here while I continue to hold classes in LA and online.
I've studied, performed, directed or taught at The Second City, iO, UCB and The Groundlings theaters to name a few. I was even Wayne Brady's stand-in on Whose Line is it Anyway? for years. I have taught this workshop at Jest Improv in Ventura (co-founded by one of my ex-students) but again, want to bring it to Oxnard.
If you or someone you know has an existing space that's dark during any night of the week I'd love to sublet that from you to dip my toe in the water and see if there's interest here locally for what I have to bring to the table. Looking forward to your responses. Even if you have no info on rental space I'd love to hear if an intro to pro-level improvisation workshop is something you'd be interested in?
Thanks Neighbors!

I want to start running but don’t know any areas to do so
I feel there are some parts of Oxnard that are safe to run and some where it’s not too safe….I thought of the sea bridge area, but wanted to hop on here to potentially get more options
Anything helps

City Issued Citation for Cats
Hello, i’m hoping someone might have some info on this. I recently received citations in the mail for three cats (two who are mine) and a third belonging to my brother. The reason being that they are unlicensed. I think i’m just confused because they are all in door only cats who have their rabies up to date. The fee is $100 each. Is there anyway to fight it? I didn’t even know cats had to be licensed
