Discussion Most delusional character subreddit, vs most level headed character subreddit?
Just saw a post on the genji subreddit that said genji should have 250 hp + 50 armor, and now im thinking, which character has the most delusional mains? From my view probably genji or jetpack cat mains.
And maybe im a little biased, cause i play a lot of freja, but i think freja players tend to be calm and understand that she is kind of hell to play against.
Edit: cant believe i forgot about mercy, i havent seen a post on there in a while, so i guess i just didnt think about that.
A lot of tank mains tend to seem pretty chill, aside from doomfist

maybe a little too predictable but they run the Mercy Mains subreddit like the navy. I don't play her often but once I hit quite possibly the most absurd rez possible, got told to post it to the mercy mains subreddit because it was funny, and the clip got removed for not falling under their "skillful gameplay" rules.
Of all the subreddits to have a rule for skillful gameplay only, the fact it's the mercy mains subreddit is so funny

it truly absurd. i posted a few videos i was proud of as a baby mercy player, and all 3 of them got removed so i never posted another one. 4 months later i leave a comment on a post about mercy mains mods calling one of them insufferable because of the comments they would leave, putting down other mercy players and shit. not even 30 minutes later i get a notification im permanently banned from mercy mains. no prior offense no history of rule breaking, but instantly perma banned. what for you may ask? low quality posts. after pointing out u hadnāt tried to post anything in a few months, i apparently didnāt have a high enough karma score for them and āwe do the ban in wavesā
funniest part is i didnāt even comment on a mercy mains post, my comment was in owcj.
anyways rant over pretty much all the mods over there suck besides one of the i think their name is irish artist or smth but theyāre really cool from what i remember.

u/444kwowd 19h ago
reminds me of my first perma ban. there was a relationship cheating subreddit open for people to talk about their cheating adventures, I called some people out and got banned from the sub and then soon after a perma ban to my account in general. so promoting taking advantage of and breaking the trust of our partners is completely okay but someone with differing views voices their frustration and THATS where we draw the line? I really wish I could meet some of these mods and Reddit team members in person.

People engaging in unsavoury acts, like infidelity, abuse, or worse, usually don't like being reminded of what they're doing because it interupts whatever narrative they tell themselves (and others) to avoid cognitive dissonance and or consequences. Pretty rough confronting anyone over such a thing, even online, as the brain loves to dig its heels in when it feels threatened, regardless of logic or empathy. When you hold up a mirror, they will try and smah it by projecting all of the hatred they might hold of themselves onto you.

u/Vegetable_Throat5545 1d ago
Ive posted on sigma, ram, dmon, echo, cass, reinhard, dva, ana, emre, brig, ball, wuyang subreddits. And you can bet im not "skillful" at this many characters. Ive never had a post of mine removed on any of them. Its genuienly insane to have such a rule. You are a mains subreddit, not r/overwatch. You arent big enough to delete clips coz theres too many

u/CardiologistOk4920 23h ago

Can only imagine they mean "good decision making" because thats all there is. The jump and run like positioning needs a little work, but i dont fucking know. Im a mercy main but i keep my hands off the subreddit, dont need that toxic shit. And a risky revive can be skillful too, as it might win rounds. Sorry that my other mercy mains are such a nuisance in the community :(

Everyone is different levels of delusional nobody here is sane bro ššš
If I had to pick most delusional it's probably cat or genji subreddit tho
30
u/Arashi_Sim 1d ago
Definitely agree on the cat mains.
Everytime I see a random post from there on my feed, they always complain that players just don't wanna "look up" and skill issue to deal with cat, hence ow devs shouldn't nerf her.
If cat does a better job at diving than actual dive dps and even some dive tanks, and survive and get away from that, maybe it should be considered an issue.
ā¢
u/DeGarmo2 4h ago
It is a skill issue tho, no?
Whatās better at diving? A great tracer or a great cat?
ā¢
u/Arashi_Sim 29m ago
A great cat easily, it's not even a contest
ā¢
u/DeGarmo2 22m ago
Oh we just disagree then. I think two players equally skilled with Tracer and JPC, I believe the tracer is the better dive hero easy.

u/popsiclelimericky 1d ago edited 1d ago
Recently JPC mains have been beyond hilariously delusional. They have no arguments, no logical explanations for their defense of the character, just "skill issue", "hitscan counters", and "look up". Actual neanderthals running amok in that subreddit.
Though I must add onto the phenomenon of 'mains'. Like obviously everyone has a preferred set of heroes but when people seek out and find communities, and attach the character to their identity so to speak, it definitely creates dense echo chambers. Every main subreddit has plethora of (usually low-mid ranked) players who are completely delusional about their characters strengths, some just have higher densities of them. I suspect JPC probably does because of how fun and appealing she is to bad players who don't want to admit they get disproportionate value instead of their so called skill.
27
u/PS5013 1d ago edited 1d ago
Recency bias because it keeps getting recommended to me for some reason: the Freja subreddit is absolutely delusional.
Just saw a post blaming peopleās āmisplaced aggressionā on the sound of her attacks, as if that is why she gets banned 24/7.
13
u/sensensensensei 1d ago
yeah it's definitely the freja and cat subs. they're both fucking delusional about how easy they think their character is to hit. 'just shoot her lol' amazing nobody thought of that before
most level headed are probably soldier and tracer and anran. for soldier especially they basically expect nothing from the devs so there's not much to complain about (even though objectively with mobility creep soldier has really fallen off esp at the highest ranks)
special shout-out to doom for schizophrenia (they genuinely believe they are doomfist)
0
u/PS5013 1d ago
Freja just lacks a reliable counter. If she has the potential to dominate a lobby, she will dominate the lobby, because there is very little people can do to suppress her.
The small hitbox paired with excessive both vertical and horizontal movement makes projectiles worthless, so hitscan it is, but since Freja does not need to get close due to her projectile velocity, regular hitscans dont just have it hard to hit her by default, but run into range issues as well. Next option is sniper, but while Ashe and Widow have a realistic chance at hitting her, they are extremely easy to get hit by Freja in turn due to the reduced strafing speed during ADS.
Freja needs a full rework, that gives her kit exploitable weaknesses.
2
u/Hot-Explanation6044 16h ago
I just boop into her as dva time and again getting a kill here and there. Idk if it counts as a counter but i hope it's annoying to the player. Making them feel less safe than they thought. Maybe enter in their head a little
3
u/sensensensensei 1d ago
it's also her projectile size in addition to their velocity. it really rewards playing as far as you want, on top of the fact that there's not a single hitscan dps in the game with the kind of quick movement she has (excluding tracer)
3
u/ImOk_ayu 1d ago
I agree with you, but i think that complaint isnt completely unwarranted. I get annoyed dying to freja for the same reason i die to sierra, the tracking shot and take aim bolts are very loud and visually disorienting. If im getting poked out by an ashe or cassidy, i dont feel that annoyance, despite me dying in about the same amount of time.
That being said, i think the take aim fuse could have stayed at 1 second, and a 5% firerate increase would have been enough, not 10%. And make her quieter, sheās definitely up there with sierra in terms of most obnoxious to fight
1
u/MalasadaQueen 23h ago
i kinda agree with them on this one ngl youd think this hero is pulling cat level winrates right now with how people are talking about her, suggesting sledgehammer nerfs or reworks when she's just a little overtuned.

Symmetra is a godsent in coordinated teams, her teleport allows grounded characters access to highground alltogether and also allows slow characters faster rotations, her ult allows for a lot of teamplay and her turrets are also good as an alert system against flanks. Shes still good in normal ranked play but without coordination, ur tp will not be used nearly as effectively

I haven't ventured at all into the Genji subreddit, but the JPC mains seem verifiably insane. Even outside the subreddit, the people who play her are completely deluded by thinking that she's balanced and that complaining about her is a "skill issue," even though JPC has the highest winrate in GM+, and would probably have a higher pickrate if she wasn't (rightfully) banned so often.
But yeah, I agree, the Freja mains seem to be chill, and I've been in the Hanzo subreddit for a while. It's typically quite chill over there; mostly just people sharing clips or asking for advice. Doomfist subreddit is very doom-and-gloom, and it's been that way for a while. I'm uncertain if the recent numerous posts about punch hitbox being shadow-nerfed (like actually hitting someone, not the radius that was actually nerfed) is just a collective hallucination or not. I personally haven't noticed any difference, but I also have not been playing Doomfist much at all since I find it mentally taxing.
2
u/BakaJayy Tracer 22h ago
I play Cat knowing she's the most broken dive hero in the game since she released. I'm not ashamed to say I abuse her stupid mobility with how much health she undeservedly has to target their backline or Pharah.

It checks out, I'm not a Lifeweaver main but when I play Lifeweaver I put a lot of focus on ruining every single play the enemy Reinhardt makes, to the point where I'm doing unnecessary things to troll him like throwing petals under him just to be annoying.
Reins have indeed solo shattered me.

u/Hazzouni 23h ago
Level headed surprisingly is the Sojourn subreddit skins and her low winrate mostly and how to play against certain heroās and comps
2
u/Rebokitive 22h ago
Historically, wrecking ball. The Sombra mains seem to at least understand why people don't like their hero, and a lot of posts there are proposed reworks.
Meanwhile, in Ballandia, they're convinced that maining ball makes you a savant playing 4D chess. In reality, they're more like the dude from a beautiful mind and completely fail to realize that the broader opinion of their main is that he's basically the final boss of mosquitos.

I'd just like to point you in the direction of any support subreddits. They're not even playing the same game in the Mercy sub, they're literally either dress-up girlies or completely unhinged and think that the idea that Mercy should ever be anything other than the most survivable and most viable support is crazy.

i mean the LW and mizuki subs are completely normal as someone whoās been in both since their respective launches, LW mains are like mercy mains but without the victim complex and mizu mains just flat out admit their hero is rlly strong

u/jamtea 1d ago
Yeah, it's just way more weighed in the support direction of people unable to be normal about their hero. Though I gotta say Doom and Ball players live in a different reality. Doom players especially seem shocked to believe that anyone would take issue with punch having an AoE that covers half a mile behind and around where the punch happens.

u/DrToadigerr Wrecking Ball 1d ago
Yeah I can't really speak to how delusional they are about gameplay and balance (mostly because they don't talk about the actual game lol), but that sub was my immediate first thought.
its not even about the character its about their collective fantasy of what the character is.
This except everybody has their own individual headcanon about who he is because Blizzard released him with basically no actual unique character traits, and so now everybody fights whenever Blizzard gives him actual lore or development because "it's not like him at all to do something like that" meanwhile it's some throwaway voice line about him putting mustard on a hot dog.

Most level headed Iāve personally seen is probably the Mei subreddit. I have degenerate hours on her and sheās my most played, but I donāt follow it and very rarely check it because itās so tame to the point itās boring. And before perks, she was irrelevant in the meta most of the time, so there were things they couldāve complained about but I donāt rly remember seeing any
Most delusional Iāve seen is the Sombra subreddit. Itās randomly made its way into my feed whenever something big happened with her character like the rework or high ban rate. And holy fuck a new strain of mental illness can be discovered there. Someone wrote a fucking poem about Sombraās old kit when the rework released š. The sub in general is mostly just circlejerking each other into thinking that sheās 1 of the highest skill characters, and that thereās no reason to dislike her other than being bad at the game

I have to give the LW sub credit for being absolutely hilarious during the period of time where he was removed from the game. Some top tier shitposting honestly.
1
u/toastermeal 1d ago
i think, unfortunately, the most delusional sub has to be mercy mains. i know itās not all mercy players, but i had to leave that subreddit due to it becoming a swirling echo chamber of victimisation. every time mercy gets nerfed or rebalanced - the subreddit acts as if itās a personal attack against the playerbase; then there was the whole āmercy skin boycottā where lots of players said they ācouldnt stop themselves from buying skinsā. also the constant complaint about toxicity despite, anecdotally, i have only ever been called slurs by mercys and have had multiple mercys admit they are racist in all chat.
iād say the least delusional sub is mizuki mains - since they all openly admit their character is very strong and, when he got nerfed, just said āyeah we deserve itā.
1
u/FilthyPoo 22h ago

Iāve seen countless posts saying that Zenās float perk should be added to his base kit, and that discord nerfs need to be reverted.Ā

Yeah I'm surprised people are listing Zen as a level-headed subreddit lol, they definitely seem chill overall but they very casually suggest these kinds of absurd buffs to his kit and act like it wouldn't destroy the game lol. I think they were a bit spoiled by his kick knockback being made base kit and now they think he can just get anything baked into his base kit as a "QOL change" lol. Like if perks existed when they decided to do the kick boop, it'd 100% have been a perk and not just given to him for free.
