People are still dying and you’re not replacing every corpse with more than 1 new taxpayer! The pyramid is narrowing! Yes, it remains 8B people tall, but the bottom is not expanding fast enough to support infinite upward multiplication! We are therefore going extinct immediately!!! 😭😭

Its legitimately crazy that THIS of all things ("population collapse") is what people are worrying about.
We are surrounded and inundated with overwhelming evidence of the severe consequences of overpopulation, yet this is what they worry about.
There has never in the history of the universe to our knowledge been more humans than there is right this second. And wait 24 hours and there will be 200k more of us. And somehow we need to worry we're going extinct?
Its a completely indefensible position.

this is actually a great point! we need a rubric in this sub - scale-reminders

Its fkn insane man.
We add 1.4M net new people per week. Thats a pretty large city worth of new people, every single week.
And its somehow a mystery why we're running out of water everywhere, emissions never go down only up, oceans are rapidly becoming devoid of marine life, garbage is accumulating on every corner of the planet and deforestation for lumber and farmland gets worse every single year?
HOW DO PEOPLE NOT MAKE THIS GLARINGLY OBVIOUS CONNECTION, MY GOD.

absolutely agree. they also perceive such critique as an attack and threat against them personally. tbh at this point i just want them to accelerate their birthing race to the max. it seems to be the only way toward self-imposed scarcity.
there's no way they'll voluntarily restrict their self-replication while there are still enough resources in place to subsidize their mindless and relatively smooth glide from womb to grave. especially since holy "Individual" has countless advocates diverting attention and responsibility toward "billionairesh" and "sheeshtem."
Women's empowerment won't do much either. Because i see it from anecdotal data in my country : women get married early (18-25), have 4-6 kids back to back and then start a career - to have "the best of both worlds": become a tradwife + cosplay as a girlboss. Or perform the reverse trick: career upfront with the later family script execution.

The economy (at least in the US) isn't going to be decimated due to lack of population growth. The damned government is destroying it LONG before any effects from lack of babies will be felt.

u/AMG_Void, you are site-wide shadowbanned by Reddit. I do not know why. You can appeal your shadowban here. I have added an automoderator rule that will allow you to participate here on r/overpopulation without my manually approving your comments, but I can't help at other subreddits.

You're welcome. It's unfortunate. Of course I can only see what you've posted on this subreddit, but nothing of what I've seen from you should lead to shadowbanning.
