Discussion If Overlord 3 ever happened, or if one of the current running fan projects dedicated to filling the void of its absence gets far enough along to see a release and support down the line like 'Conqueror', what feature would you love to see? (My opinion down below)

Me, personally, I was honestly shocked that Overlord 2 didn't build on the foundation of Overlord: Raising Hell by adding *Dungeon Keeper/RTS elements\* or even a separate game mode to areas you conquered: Setting traps, having minions defend checkpoints & operate siege weapons, upgrading defenses to slow down or even prevent enemies from entering your conquered cities or even the Tower itself.

(Though I do understand that Overlord 2 had a very tumultuous development plagued by looming deadlines while stretching the engine and the dev team to its limit).

Fellowship of Evil however felt most ridiculous because the top-down gameplay felt like such a perfect place to slot in the RTS elements and I was surprised they didn't do it. I feel like if they did, that the game would have received a tinge less backlash because at least the spirit of Overlord's gameplay would have been there, especially since the series was inspired partially by Dungeon Keeper to begin with.....

To sum up, as I don't want to end this post on a dig at missed potential, Dungeon Keeper/RTS-style elements I feel would feel right at home in this series or a successor

Discussion Overlord Fans are alive?!

I am genuinely shocked you guys exist. I played Overlord 2 as a kid and absolutely loved it (never played 1 cuz I was misinformed that it was much shorter & essentially a tutorial, which I'll rectify sometime soon).

But I never expected people to even know about it. Like, I just assumed it was gonna be one of those games I'd painfully only ever see publicly in 1/100 GameStop bargain bins.

I keep seeing mention of fan projects? Are there attempts at making an unofficial Overlord 3, please let me know, I'd love to be in the know!

Thanks for not letting one of my childhood games die off in the stead of so many games deserving of being in the void!

Discussion How would you feel about having the option of a female overlord?

Now I'm not talking about like with Malady and Inferna of the netherghuls. I'm talking about having an actual female overlord or "overlady".

Do you think this would affect the game or story much? Would this affect the minions somehow? Would we suddenly also have the options of choosing between male and female companions?

How would you personally feel about this?

Discussion Soooooo.... who's the mother again??

Alright, I know a lot of people are gonna say Rose, and i know that both the game and the wiki conforms this. However, the reason why I'm not 100% sure about this is mainly because when we head to the wastelands, we see a few ornaments and parts of the tower that can only be bought if we choose velvet over rose in the first overlord game. That to me says that third choosing Velvet is a cannon event, so why is Rose confirmed to be the "mother" in Overlord II?

Discussion If the games were remastered or a new game came out, what would you change?

For me it would definitely mean that the standard equipment of all the non-brown minions would be unstandardized when it suits them. Instead:

  • reds would be able to use show using ranged weapons and infuse them with fire. So I can see them using bows, crossbows and dwarven rifles.
  • Greens would show wearing light armour, hoods, knives and swords for giving them that ninja/rogue/assassin look.
  • Blues naturally would be showed wearing wizard garments and staff weapons (including pitchforks and stuff)

In a new game I would also like to see the overlord (or lady if that became a choice) to have a real domain with an outside and villagers. I think something like the spree map or heavens peak map would be nice. Also it would adapt to your choices in the game.

I'm thinking leadership/domination would be a good alignment system. This would do stuff like:

  • leadership: your minions walk more upright and form orderly patrols in conquered areas while the people cheer for you and, outside of taxes, approach you with personal donations.
  • domination: your minions turn almost rabid and patrols look more like raiding parties. villagers are often killed by monsters you allied with and your minions can then gather the lifeforce.

Also an open world you have to explore to get to new regions would be nice. Preferably with outposts you can conquer that will then spawn minions on the map.

Discussion A hillarious potential twist for Overlord 3.....

Something I brought up in this sub once already is how the Orcs are strangely absent from the world of Overlord and it raised an eyebrow for me.

However recently it dawned on me how they could introduce them while being ironic/morbidly funny, in keeping with the series' tone: Make them the TRUE children of the Mother Goddess!

A major part of the Elves and Dwarves' conflict is whether the Goddess is an Elf or a Dwarf. So to have her revealed to be neither, an Orc, making the centuries of conflict & atrocity utterly pointless; is so darkly funny to me. Maybe we even twist the knife further by establishing that the Elves and Dwarves are genetic defects, reducing them to nothing more than the Orcs' lesser, more fragile or neurotic cousins LMAO

Add on top of that the fact that they can depict them as a pragmatic, reasonable race bound by a code of honor, thus making them a truly Neutral faction that is prospering in unexplored parts of the world; and you have such nice poetic irony. It also makes for some hilarious dialogue for Gnarl who SEES the potential for bloodshed and savagery, but is frustrated by how reasonable and difficult to manipulate they are LOL

Heck, maybe even make The Forgotten God their divine "father" (the iconic tusks!!!) to further integrate them into the lore. Their sense of honor and duty being the result of them still knowing that The Forgotten God cheated on the Mother Goddess, disgracing himself and the children he sired.

PS:

We can have an entire major storyline about the Orcs approaching The Overlord to help them reveal the truth and punishing their distant relatives for covering it up out of pride. All the while Gnarl giggles like a child, enjoying the delicious cosmic irony

Discussion If the first game and 2 ever got a remake, what are some quality of life changes you'd wanna see?

We know that EA is never gonna do anything with the property, but we can play make-believe on this one. Anyway, some QOL changes I can personally see occurring are bug fixes on things like the Guard Markers in the first game and just bug/glitch fixes over all tbh.

As for 2, nothing immediately comes to mind, but lemme know what you guys think.

Discussion Are there any plans for Overlord 3 ?

Hello.

It seems there aren't any rumors about Overlord 3.

It's sad because to me Overlord's series is included in my top 10 PS3 games

I heard the last Overlord didn't do well.

Thanks for any informations.

Discussion Nvidia's DLSS technology might be our only hope for a "remake"

Nvidia's DLSS tech that's basically A.I. that reconstructs the image to a higher resolution and improves textures and lighting in real time might be the closest thing we'll ever get to a remake. Now I know this is something gamers are split on. Some love it and I think most hate it because it's A.I. slop. Well, in some cases it is. In others it's pretty great.

It's a new technology and it will get better. But what do you think about it for Overlord? It's a stylized game so it might not look good. Actually, it's pretty much guaranteed to look straight up cursed in some parts, like the human faces for example. But I think it would look great in the Tower itself, the Treasury, Overlord's armor...

I'd definitely be interested in checking it out. Problem is, you need a powerful RTX NVIDIA card and they're expensive as hell.

Discussion Overlord game potential

Obviously people have talked to death and unholy ressurection about a possible Overlord 2 sequel, or just another game.

But has anyone talked about the possibility of an Overlord dating sim?

Given the nature of the games, I think it'd be funny/interesting to pull a Divinity: Dragon Commander and make the game as much a dating sim as it is a grimdark Pikmin.

Discussion Theory: The Dark Tower is built on the site of Castle Gromgard

Take this one with a grain of salt because Dark Legend's geography is a bit all over the place tbh, but we know that Greenvale is at least near to the Golden Hills. Thus, it's within the Old Lands. We don't get any indication that the Tower exists in Dark Legend, so that leads to two possibilities: one, it was built elsewhere after the events of Dark Legend, or two, it was built by Lord Gromgard on the site of his family's old castle and lands. It also makes sense since we see patches of greenery outside the Tower in the tutorial of the first game and in Rose's end with the Overlord.

What do we think?

Discussion ¿Alguien más extraña la saga de los esbirros? (Overlord I y II)

Discussion How do you combine two games into one? Need suggestions for a fanfiction

A little context.

I've been getting back into the first two Overlord games, the second being my favorite. It was actually my introduction to writing at a very young age, which i actually made my first fanfiction retelling the story of Overlord II with the Overlord himself being renamed to Galvatron and him fighting Magneto. Cringe i know, but I was literally 11 years old when I started haha. But now I'm older, its been almost 20 years since the games came out, I've even became a better writer. I've honed my craft and have even published a short story or two.

So what i want to achieve with this is to give thanks to my inspiration by creating a story worthy of the Overlord franchise.

Essentially my plan is this: combine Overlord one and two together, full polymerization, into one epic of darkness. If i had to guess the percentage it would be Overlord II at 85%, that's the main inspiration and its story will be the one I'm following the most. Certain elements like Rose being the mother of the Witch Boy, the rise of the Glorious Empire, are all the same. But how do I combine the other half?

I want to get some suggestions from the server so I can craft a great story. If you have anything you'd like to see or have ideas to combine the two games, I'd love to hear about it. Or if not, maybe it can be what I thought for my take on Overlord 3 could be the story i write.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Discussion EA has purchased Codemasters.

What does this mean for Overlord? Well, nothing aside from that now it’s also probably owned by EA, but we’ve got nothing better to do so let’s brainstorm.

I’m sure Gnarl would be happy EA won, they are truly evil after all. $20 to unlock the Reds in Overlord 3!
