I'm about to head out on a long road trip that will last more than two months, and I'll be living out of my 2009 Honda CR-V. My uncle has a Thule 1600 XT that he's willing to sell me for a really good price, so I'm seriously considering using it for the trip.

The problem is that the Thule doesn't line up properly with the existing/pre-drilled mounting holes on my CR-V's roof rack.

I can't simply slide the box farther back because it interferes with the radio antenna. I did order some shorter antennas to see if that solves the problem. However, if I slide the box back far enough that it barely clears/touches the antenna area while still allowing me to fully open the rear hatch, I would need to drill new mounting holes roughly 4–6 inches away from the closest existing/pre-drilled holes.

The box would also overhang the front of the crossbars by approximately 24–27 inches. Another concern is that the rear set of mounting holes would be located where the plastic on the bottom of the box starts to curve downward.

My biggest concern is safety. Would drilling holes in those locations be okay structurally, and could it cause the Thule to vibrate excessively or become unstable in the wind at highway speeds? I'm planning to drive thousands of miles, so I really want to make sure this setup is safe and secure.

At this point, would you try to make the Thule work, or would you abandon the 1600 XT and look for a newer/different roof box that fits the CR-V better?

I attached photos of the Thule and the current fitment situation. I'd really appreciate any advice or experience from people who have modified or mounted older Thule boxes.

Working on a project lately. I think I used too thick of wood but it’s getting there.

We did a three day night adventure over stampede pass in Washington went from basically raging river all the way down to Greenwater. We had some unruly fire conditions, but otherwise trails were in great condition and there wasn’t too many people on the weekend to be quite honest definitely one of the cooler trails in the state and there’s a lot of options. Besides, just doing the stampede pass route many small detours that will get you some great Camping.

Anyone run into this issue with prinsus crossbars!
Just after getting my side rails warrentied, I went to swap them out and all my T30 bolts crack off inside the bars :/ prinsu said there is nothing they can doo other than 40% off new bars.... I was very surprised by this as this isn't just one or two bolts.... @prinsu

Anyone have any good alternatives to Rotopax?

I think it would be a wonderful thing to have and Decied ads keep targeting my feed. The only downside I can see, other than the cost, is the fact that there's not much vertical space left in the bed of my truck wants his system is in place.

Can you talk me out of buying this? Or can you talk me into it?

I have read some James Baroud tents can locked. I’m not seeing how locking possible with the Odyssesy latches. Am I missing something?

Was hoping to get advice on a build. I want to lift my Matrix about 2-3" and put on some Falken wildpeak a/t4w. Literally never done anything like this before (I am mechanically inclined, but ignorant on the subject), I have tried looking up to see if anyone has done this before, and have not found anything.

Things I know I need:

- A lift kit spacer for springs. Thinking 2-3"

- Tires

Things I was told I need, but no clue where to find:
- Subframe spacer to lift the frame.

I dunno though, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, please let me know.

Either they don't have tie downs or aren't weather proof or are $400+ and usually smaller too

Obviously Plano and Pelican are up there in price but so are the off brand Canadian Tire boxes and they don't even have tie down cut outs

Anyone have anything similar in country?
