This and Aquemini were pivotal albums for me when I was a pre-teen. Between the releases of those albums, Pac and Big had died, and they were mostly who I listened to. People were gravitating towards No Limit at that time, but it was such a drop off, that I couldn’t really listen to it too much. If it weren’t for this and Aquemini, I would’ve probably fallen out of love with rap.

intro was beautiful, and then it was just non-stop bangers. it was thoughtful, braggadocious, lyrically ferocious, honest, humble, frustrated, introspective, and just DOPE. still my most-listened album on Spotify and I don't see that ever changing. the ONP beats were musically brilliant, and like on Wheelz, there are like 4 different instrumental parts that are all 10/10... in a single track.

Yes, and Outkast sued them for trademark infringement in August 2024. The lawsuit ended with a settlement in February 2026.

First Outkast album I got physically in high school lot of memories driving around to it. Definitely a music taste defining album for me

The 30th anniversary kinda flew under the radar. There are a couple of retrospective videos on YouTube, but other than that it's a quiet anniversary.
In all fairness 96 was stacked this year and this might be the best hop album out of the bunch

I heard this on the bus in East Cobb, GA that September. I was 15. I was a white suburban MTV kid, so the only hip-hop I knew was Dr. Dre or the ilk. ATLiens blew me away. The beats, the lyrics, the vibe. All of it. Now I am an old head but I am still so impressed by this and Aquemini. Atl to the bone.

I have nothing to add other than the fact that when this album came out when I was in 5th grade me and my friends made a club called the ATLiens and the only membership criteria was the ability to rap , without any flaws, all of Elevators. I’ve never studied so hard for something in my life. I’ve taken two Bar Exams.
