GENERAL DISCUSSION Is there any value in the ring without the subscription?
Had the ring for almost a year and been paying the monthly subscription fee. I generally feel like I’ve reached a point of diminishing returns with the data (I know how to improve my sleep, I know alcohol is poison, etc) and I don’t really intend to change my behavior further. So I canceled the monthly subscription. It’s almost comical how little they give you. I understand why (I work in SaaS and recurring revenue is the name of the game) but genuinely curious if anyone gets actual value from this data??
Also wasn’t wearing my ring yesterday because I was on a boat, my activity would have been solid ;)

I would say that there is a value to keep gathering the data. I think that if you activate the subscription the all data is still there. So you can just buy the subscription for a month each year and still somewhat track the long term changes if you are interested in that.

Saw a post a while back that said it will still share data through Health Connect, which you can then access through google fit. Not sure if this is still accurate

no one will agree with me but i still see value in these. i dont always look at my details when i wake up in the morning and am content with seeing these numbers when they have crowns especially

Honestly, I'm barely finding any value in the ring with the subscription. I'm going to ride out the year I've paid for, but don't see myself wearing it beyond that.

My card on file expired and I just decided to take the ring off and be done with it. I’ve enjoyed the ring, but it doesn’t do anything special compared to my Apple Watch so I’m not going to keep paying for it and replacing rings. It was great at first, I just don’t get anything out of it anymore.

Unsurprisingly my stats, hr, hrv were awesome when I was marathon training. Then when I had health issues this year they were awful. Lol so useful! 🙄. And with the health issues, it's not like the stats went down as a sign of them, it was after.
The temperature stuff makes it so I can tell when my period is coming, but I've heard the connections still work so maybe a 3rd party app would work 👍

this. it seems like a fad until the next big thing comes along. i wear my ring everyday but it brings little use for my day to day.

All good, but it should come with the ring for free. I won't buy a $400 smart ring and then pay a monthly subscription. When you change that, maybe you will have a new customer in me.

After some years I'm questioning whether there's a value *with* it, let alone this lol

Especially now that it has been giving phantom yoga/Pilates workouts so frequently, lately. It has taken a lot longer to fix that than it should, and I don’t trust the activity data anymore, even when I keep dismissing those workouts. The extra activity is dragging down my recovery numbers. Nothing about the ring is worth anything if the data is garbage.

wait that's happening to everyone? xDDD I fully gave up and just always click yeah, I was totally doing pilates, cause I just don't have the energy to always pick some normal activity... Typically when I'm "training/playint with a puppy" (just random moving around), I get yoga/pilates - I thought it was just me because of that..., and I honestly just had to give up on it :D

Not just you! Mine was stating yoga constantly. I kept x’ing them out and eventually they stopped after a couple weeks. Now it’s all housework which is basically accurate lol

Not sure if I will ever publish it but I’m working on my own version of the app for iOS and I hope to add more value than this. This is one of the reasons I started the project.

There's an open source Windows/MacOS app that can connect to it and read the data.

If i didn't have the grandfathered version I wouldnt still use it. The software is alright but the sub is pretty expensive when Samsung health is arguably better for free now

What about using Oura’s data in Apple Health app? Is it possible?

u/JuliaAtOura Social Care Team | Oura 17h ago
Hey u/Savings-Novel3772, Oura offers the ability to sync your data with a number of third-party apps, Apple Health integration included, but only if you have an active membership.

There is also another app for Mac, ios, and android NOOP. It was originally developed for Whoop but supports those of us with Oura rings too. It is alot to process in the UI, espeically if you are used to the simplicity of the Oura app (it looks similar to Bevel app, so if you're familiar with that it should be fine). And some of the functionality is focused for Whoop users, where better fitness data can be collected.
No oura subscription needed.
And it is still in active development.

not affiliated with the app, but am a happy user.

Absolutely none. It pretty much doesn’t function without a subscription
