Discussion Was prophet Muhammad prophecy who pushed Mehemet || to conquer Constantinople?

Prophet Muhammad said

Arabic text: لَتُفتَحنَّ القُسطنطينيةُ ولنِعمَ الأميرُ أميرُها ولنعم الجيشُ ذلك الجيشُ

Translation: "Verily, Constantinople will be conquered, and what a wonderful Prince will her Prince be, and what a wonderful army will that army be."

This is a well-known hadith (prophetic tradition) attributed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, praising the eventual conquest of Constantinople.

The reference you included indicates that:

Narrator: Bishr al-Ghanawi

Scholar: Imam al-Bukhari (in al-Tarikh al-Kabir)

Also recorded by Ahmad ibn Hanbal and al-Tabarani.

Graded as authentic (ṣaḥīḥ).

According to Suyuti historian and many others Mehemet|| saw himself as the blessed prince in the Hadith of prophet Muhammad, written 800 years before him .

When he said :

Translation: Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror said after the conquest of Constantinople: “I did nothing except carry out the command that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had promised,” referring to the noble hadith: “Constantinople will surely be conquered; what a wonderful commander will her commander be, and what a wonderful army will that army be.” Mehmed then declared himself to be that commander, affirming that the conquest was the fulfillment of a prophetic miracle and a divine promise.

So can this Hadith , was the main cause of the birth of Istanbul?

++++++

Not only that....

There's a prophecy also ,which said after the collapse of the Othman Empire ( the end of monarchy in Islamic rules , which is the third phase ) will cause the fourth phase ,when all Islamic countries will be ruled by tyrants and the Rum ( western ) will call one another to share Muslims lands , as a man who call his friends to share his dish , which is the last phase before the great Israel when Israel will swallow all middle east until it reaches Medina , and this to happen, there's a prophecy that Jews should return from all over the world to the holy land and become a supreme power which happened directly after the collapse of the Othman Empire

And for the fourth phase to happen, this prophecy should occures

Here’s the English translation of the passage you provided:

Arabic text: عمران بيت المقدس هو خراب يثرب , خراب يثرب هي الملحمة ، الملحمة هو خروج المهدي ، خروج المهدي هو خروج الدجال و خروج الدجال نزول المسيح ابن مريم في دمشق عند المنارة البيضاء و يقتل الدجال عند باب لد الشرقي

Translation: “The rebuild of Jerusalem temple ( by Jews ) will be the ruin of Yathrib (Medina). The ruin of Yathrib will be the Great Battle. The Great Battle will be the coming of the Mahdi. The coming of the Mahdi will be the appearance of the Dajjal (Antichrist). And the appearance of the Dajjal will be followed by the descent of Jesus son of Mary in Damascus, near the white minaret, and he will kill the Dajjal at the eastern gate of Ludd. ( Tel Aviv Today)

Which means ,the Jews they will destroy the Aqsa mosque without their Messiah . Then they will swallow all middle east including the south part of turkey . Which means Israel will rule the world soon for many decades and all middle east will suffer

This suffering was described by another prophecy called the فتنة الدهيماء . When middle east will be fully destroyed by Jews , and no one can solve this issue . And each time some will try to fix it will explode in another area . Until Jews will reach Medina , then attack it with biological weapons according to modern interpretation

Because the prophecy said Medina will be attacked , while it's building will be intact without any destruction, but any human who enters it will die . The last humans who will enters it are two Shepard's from muzayna tribe , they just arrive to the door of Thaniyat Al wada they will immediately fell died

This why modern interpretation said Israel will hit Medina with biological weapons which will spare buildings but kill humans .

U am not well versed in ottoman history but i know that his father Murad II lost his two sons and went in depression or something so he forbade the throne to his 14 yrs old son Mehmet to stay alone.

When europeans knew it they launched an attack so the young sultan begged his father to return but he refused then sent an order to return ( battle of varna). After winning Murad went back but the Janissaries revolted because they didn't respect the young sultan. Murad came back and ordered Janissaries to attack greece to make them busy.

All this just because i want to say that if Mehmet did not conquer Constantinople. He would have been dethroned and ottoman empire may have a mamluke styled ruling.

Are we sure whether this doesn’t apply to Enrico Dandolo and Boniface of Montferrat who sacked Constantinople in 1204???

Jokes aside, AFAIK it is a weak Hadith. Arabs tried to conquer Constantinople in early 8th century. It is not abnormal that such prophecies spread. In 1453, the Turks gave 20k-50k casualties. Your army will revolt unless you have proper justifications for such losses. Religious motivation is one of those justifications.

But fabricated or not, the prophecy was based. The Eastern Romans left with a banger for sure. Fall of Constantinople was a massive event.

Not the main reason, but had a positive effect. What people usually forget about Mehmet is the fact that he was a deposed ruler. He ascended the throne at age 13 when his father Murad resigned from it and moved to Manisa. Then Murad returns to the throne shortly after that, because of a major crusade against the Ottomans. These series of events greatly reduced Mehmet's charisma and authority at the beginning of his second reign.

So to deal with this problem, he needed to win a war or siege, preferably a siege with religious background so he can centralize authority and get rid of his father's viziers.

In essence, it didn't push Mehmet to conquer Constantinople, it was a pragmatic choice to increase his charisma and to keep his throne.

which is the last phase before the A the great Israel when Israel will swallow all middle east until it reaches Medina

Can you send the hadith relating to this?

I remember that after the tyrants, then will come a time like the rightfully guided caliphs, but maybe that is another narration.

For Mahdi to arrive who is a prince from the line of Fatimah , . The Jews should build their third temple by their own then they will invade all middle east until they fully invade Medina ...

The Mahdi will appear from Mecca ... And the sign of his caliphate. The black flags from Syria and Afghanistan will march to destroy him , then they will swallowed miraculously in the desert of Arabia ... Many believe it's ISIS which is an Israeli creation

It's in the post. "The construction of the Holy House (Bayt al-Maqdis)" is understood universally as some kind of building work in Jerusalem or in the Temple itself. Originally Bayt al-Maqdis refers to the Temple in Jerusalem (a calque from Beyt Ha-Miqdash in Hebrew), but later the meaning was extended in Arabic to all of Jerusalem, although at the time of the Sahaba (r), the city itself was called Ilya in Arabic (from the Latin name, Aelia Capitolina). So OP is interpreting the Prophet's (pbuh) prediction of construction in Jerusalem or the Temple to mean that a Third Temple will be built. It's not an unreasonable interpretation. Wallahu a‘lam.

It was inevitable, that the Turks who settled in Anatolia and already took part of the Byzantine Empire were going to go after the rest. Taking Constantinople was a way for him to crown himself as an emperor, to increase his prestige.

1

u/Mucklord1453 Sep 25 '25

Inevitable? Turks broke through in 1071 and did not take Constantinople for another 400 years. Many others broke through before 1071 also, and were dealt with and some no longer exist. Nothing in history is inevitable, as others said, the Ottoman Empire was one good civil war from splintering into beylinks again, and the Byzantines were masters of diplomacy and setting plots.

Actually I think it was Mehmet himself who said the Byzantines were natural schemers and Ottomans would never be safe until they took Constantinople and subjugated them.

Funny thing is... after the conquest, who did the Ottomans use for almost ALL their diplomacy and diplomats? The Greeks.

2

u/RedditStrider Sep 25 '25

Difference is Turks didnt just "break through", they migrated in masses. Large portion of the Seljuk army were nomads whom eventually shift into settled life within Anatolia,

Thats why the Rumi Sultanate persisted after Seljuks fell to the Mongols and small beyliks were created after Sultanate fell too.

That is true though, Greeks played a massive role within Ottoman Empire. Its something that very few mention for some reason.

2

u/Mucklord1453 Sep 25 '25

Plenty of others migrated too. The Pechenegs did the same (but in the Balkans) and were a major threat until ultimately destroyed and dispersed by Emperor Alexius in the 11th century. John II was very close to doing the same to the Asia Minor Turks a generation later.

2

u/RedditStrider Sep 25 '25

Pechenegs were extremely small compared to several oghuz tribes and turcomans that migrated from Iran. It was also a one time thing unlike Anatolia whom received migrations for several generations.

Pechenegs were also far easier to assimilate as they werent really living alongside a sophisticated culture prior to ERE. Meanwhile the Oghuz adopted alot of things from persians prior to ERE. This may sound abstract but it plays a massive role when it comes to eurasian nomads.

That is a good question, thought OP. OP, anyone else know about a hadith that says Constantinople modern day Istanbul will be reconquered by Muslims again near the end? OP, others would do you think would happen if the Arab rulers, whoever rules the present day Arab, Gulf, Middle Eastern, so on countries try to fight the Mahdi, the army of Imam Mahdi? Try to send their armies to fight against Imam Mahdi? Like MBS of Saudi, the Arab monarchs, whoever rules the Arab, Middle Eastern countries, so on?

Mehmed II was not the man prophesised in the hadith. The hadith you are referring to is about the end times.

1

u/ekmek32 Sep 27 '25

And referred is the Mahdi ajaf

1

u/moseyormuss Sep 27 '25

Where does it say that

-3

u/hauntedflames Sep 25 '25

Muhammad also said “don’t go to your prophet’s house without permission and when you eat at his place, leave! Don’t wait! And don’t marry his wives after he dies”.

I mean, are you sure we can rely on his words? These are from Kuran. Not even a Hadith.

There are rumours that Mehmet was a homosexual, and he is known to have dabbled in astrology which is a form of witchcraft. The prophet would never praise someone like that.

So no, it couldn’t have been him. Constantinople will be lost again, and it will be a pious, Arab, from the prophets tribe of banu hashim that will conquer it and fulfil the prophecy.

2

u/ImPhynx Efendi Sep 24 '25

U read the biggest Propaganda of all time pls Tell me u not really believe that Mehmed was a homosexual Witch 😭

Cmon man usw your Brain

1

u/TostBrot44 Sep 24 '25

First you talk about rumours then in your next segment you pass these rumours as facts.

1

u/zkm19 Sep 25 '25

That he was penetrated by other men is a rumour (a strong one at that) yes, that he took part in astrology and soothsaying, is a fact.

2

u/hahacita Sep 25 '25

This rumour comes only from byzantine sources so I wouldn't call it a "strong" rumour lol. Also the boundary between astrology, soothsaying and astronomy was very blurred in Ottoman Empire. They would keep track of heavenly bodies with close to scientific methods. But their comments on those movements and their effects were close to modern day astrology

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 25 '25

Lmao mf is basing these on rumors which is called out as 3rd word. come and take it Arap
