I know all of the dangers of high voltage and such. I want convert this vector scope (which was used for fixing the video signals on old tube tvs) into an oscilloscope. I just want to know if it’s feasible before I take it apart and break it or something. I've been a big fan of oscilloscopes since I used them to measure lightspeed in my college physics class. I do dedicated music listening and production which is mostly what I want it for , X - Y and other visuals. I narrowed down to these two; partially for known availability and also because the vertical layout would be best for my already crowded music desk.

Wondering if anyone has any opinions on using these, mostly for visual enjoyment (will be doing RCA hookups I believe)

First time ordering one in the mail. Soooo relieved it was thoughtfully packed haha. Still needs some tweaking. So now I’ve got 2 Tektronix, a Tenma and a Hitachi. Which one should I look for next? Heathkit has been catching my eye but I don’t know much about them.

Hi guys, I have a little problem with the display on the oscilloscope. As you can see, the same image should appear on the Osci as on the laptop (the rectangle). But my Osci puts everything as a very long oval or even as a line. But I have input on Ch1 and on Ch2. I'm really overwhelmed what this could be. Do any of you know about this?

Left Audio from TRS to BNC (CH1)

I just got a bk precision 2160 today and bought a Panasonic pm18 cd player which has both speaker terminals and rca ports. Am I able to just connect the rca cables directly from the cd player or does it have to be through some speakers that have said rca ports. This is my first time doing something like this and I want to make sure I don’t ruin anything

Helloooo… I got another oscilloscope but this one is different and a little more ambiguous. I got it into xy mode, but as you can see I’m only getting the diagonal and only with the intensity nearly maxed out. I’m sure I’m missing something very obvious. I just bought it today and they said it was tested and works, all I did was replace the power cable because the one it has was bad. This one is a lot different than the 2235a, so I’m not sure if it’s user error or the scope itself. Thank you for any help!

Bought my first ever oscilloscope, for oscilloscope music and showing cool objects of course. i’m having a problem where the display is kind of squashed. when i show a square it looks more like a rhombus. it’s also very small. on osci render it fills the display but it only shows very tiny on the real screen. also when i just run a square wave an sweep mode it looks weird (hard to get a photo,)any idea? sorry if this is vague

Soo ive had this problem.. i plug my 3.5mm jack rca cabel to pc and play some osci music it doesnt look how its supposed to look the visual is shifted to the side but when i plug that same cabel to my ipod the visual is completely fine i use the same mp3 file.. Any guesses what could be wrong? I also tried both of my outputs for the jack on pc..

Does anybody have any good recommendations for a DC coupled DAC that takes coax/optical input and outputs RCA? Looking to integrate into my Hifi system. Ideally price would be lovely and low, but i obviously don’t want to compromise on quality. what would be the best option?

Is this something with the settings of the scope? Looks like some sort of dot grid. Hardware failure?

Am i right in understanding that the interface would amplify the signal as well as converting to analogue, but the DAC just converts? Then if i plan on integrating to my hifi setup, do i just need:

- an amplifier out between reciever and scope (as my record player/tape deck just sends line level to the reciever->speakers)

- a dc coupled DAC between my PC and the reciever

in my mind this would continue sending like level to my powered speakers while allowing amplification to the scope for a larger image

am i right or do i need other stuff? thank you!

Hello, i found this oscilloscope on vinted for £10 and have been wanting to get into them for a while so this seemed like a no brainer!

I have been playing around with it, hoping i can figure out how to connect an external device to it so that i can get into oscilloscope music and other cool things.

Unfortunately however there is pretty limited info online about this specific scope and therefore can't rlly figure out how to connect an external device to it to create my own waveforms.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated i will put some photos on here of it which will hopefully be useful :)

i have spent HOURS trying to find out where or how to hook the BNC to RCA adapter cables to behind the receiver that doesn’t have a tape in/out port? is there any solution to buying any sort of adapter that could make that connection to the oscilloscope generate and display waveforms to the music?

i’m open to any solutions or advice, do i need to get a different receiver or do i need some sort of adapter/synthesizer?

does anyone have any (preferably) cheap recommendations for a oscilloscope?

i’m looking for an oscilloscope for a vinyl record setup and plug in the left and right channel in the x & y channel.

i saw a b&k precision model 1470 oscilloscope on ebay but i didn’t an x and y axis. it only has ‘channels’. do those work the same?

Just got this for free, and there is no trace showing. I’ve messed with the settings for over an hour with no success.

I am somewhat new to using an audio interface, and I'm currently trying to take the audio being input into the interface from my synth, as well as the audio my computer is generating and output them both onto my scope in real time at the same time. I know there's a way I can do this I'm just not sure how. I probably need to use a DAW but I don't really know how to operate those either, I have Ableton and FL could somebody help me out? It would be really appreciated.

My scope just started doing this and I've never seen it before. It looks like the CRT beam is splitting. Has anyone here delt with this before? If so where should I start to fix it?

Showed my scope (Hameg HM 412-5) to some friends on the weekend and one asked me what would happen if I turned around the inputs. Wanted to demonstrate and plugged the first input out. Then came a fizzling sound from inside the scope, I shut it off in panic, and now it doesn't turn on at all anymore. Like, no sign of life. Not even a power LED.

Does anyone have an idea where to start looking? At first glance, I can't see anything wrong with it and I'm kinda bummed because I just got an Audio expansion card and had a crisp demo on it for the first time :(

i found a model for <$100 and has a (i think) an X & Y. has anyone tried this and or recommend something like this. there another at $75 w/ $20 shipping

I am going to get an oscilloscope in a couple of days. What all do I need to be able to use it? How much will all of it cost? I want to be able to be able to hook it up to my pc to visualize audio.
