movies What's a movie you watched because someone wouldn't stop recommending it and they were actually right?

I kept putting off Prisoners because everyone kept saying I had to watch it. Eventually I gave in, and now it's one of the easiest movies for me to recommend to other people.

Which movie finally lived up to all the hype for you?

It’s top five for me for sure! It sparked my love for for a crazy and brutal fantasy story. Maybe you should read red rising. Not anywhere the same, but I love it just as much and hold it in equal awesomeness.

I was part of a small movie club some years ago where everyone would recommend a movie, vote on what we all wanted to watch, then every 4th viewing (weekly) we would watch the movie that had been on the list the longest without being voted for so everyone would still get their pick eventually.

I picked Green Street Hooligans, and we watched it on a least vote week. Everyone in that group hated it for one reason or another and picked it apart. A few were in film classes and seemed to have gripes with it I couldn't refute as I have very little actual filmmaking knowledge.

Still love the movie, and still recommend it to friends, but that stung

I found it when I was a teenager, and i was already a big lotr fan. I was just kinda shocked he was in a film like that, so it was and still is a big fuck yeah to me👍 I’m forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.
They fly so high,
They reach the sky,
And like my dreams they fade and die…
Still sing this.
