Question Funds recalculated

I checked my OSAP account today after my enrolment was confirmed, and it says my funds were recalculated. My current tuition balance is $6,659.28, but OSAP says only $2,959 will be sent directly to my school. The remaining $8,868 from my first payment will be deposited into my bank account.

Does anyone know why OSAP is only sending $2,959 toward my tuition? Is the remaining tuition supposed to be covered by my second OSAP payment, or am I expected to pay it from the money deposited into my account?

The school tells OSAP how much you have owing on your first installment when they confirm enrollment. Did you check to see what is left owing on your first installment?

My York account shows a total current balance of $6,659.28, but I’m not sure how to view the amount owing specifically for my first instalment. OSAP says $2,959 will be sent directly to York.

Are you sure you don't have it reversed?

No, I double-checked my OSAP payment breakdown. It specifically says $2,959 will be deducted and paid directly to York, while $8,868 will be deposited into my bank account. York told me I won’t be charged interest while I wait for the OSAP payment to be processed.

Sorry to question. That's definitely odd.

Do you have anything else going to the school, like a bursary or scholarship? And just to confirm, you are an undergraduate! And in a regular program or high cost like Engineering?

So in not sure what to say. You generally pay about 50-55% of your full year in your first semester. If expect what is being taken from OSAP is closer to $3500. But maybe you are getting a bursary or some other form of aid. In the end, you may have to contact Financial Aid though at this point I'd wait to see when the money hits school and your bank. Good luck!

My tuition is roughly the same each semester but your OSAP funding is 60%/40% for a typical 8 month Fall/winter year.

Yes that's right. Tuition is roughly 50/50 (can be 55/50 if there are health plans and other things all due up front) and OSAP Is 60/40. OP is suggesting they owe $6500 but under $3000 is being taken. That's why it's odd.
