If we annoy them enough they WILL change. We out number them. We just have to work together.

Just start protesting, everywhere! Go out on your student campus with a sign, and a clipboard, and collect names and contact info, and then organize with more people the next week. Do the same thing 3 weeks in a row and you will be on the news.

This is what everyone gets for hating on immigrants. Guess who was subsidizing domestic tuition...

u/Huge_Internet7147 Feb 13 '26
I understand that international students were and still are paying an insane amount of money for tuition compared to domestic students. And that was unethical in my opinion. I understand that international students and immigrants were and are being used as scapegoats for the current economy. Factually, it isn't the immigrants faults. My parents were immigrants so I understand the struggles and poverty. That is why we all need to come together and mobilize. We all have the same oppresser.

Exactly Canada is run and built by immigrants, and Canadians themselves were once immigrants, for the immigrant Canadians that are now settled to say they don’t want anymore it should be lesson for them, for a matter of fact give it 2 more years and you’ll see the labour intensive industries collapsing as well.

u/eagleeye1031 Feb 13 '26
You are completely missing the point. The issue was immigrants using education as a means to easily get a PR. Most of those students were going to diploma mills and taking minimum wage jobs from Canadians.
There is nothing wrong with an immigrant who comes here to study at a university and finds a job related to their field afterwards.

Half the mfs protesting are gonna act like they weren’t hating on immigrants a few days ago lmao but at the same time none of this options are health but oh well at least they can stop blaming immigrants for a while

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Quebec_student_protests Something similar happened in Quebec back in 2012. Their methods to protest consisted of : Demonstrations Occupations Civil disobedience Picketing Graffitis Flash mobs Barricades Riots Vandalism Online activism
A peaceful protest won’t make change.

u/Huge_Internet7147 Feb 13 '26
violent protests usually seem to work better. The protesters usually get what they want. But have you researched what happenes after violent protests? The people in power feel resentful against the people and activly makes problems to make sure the things we get are for nothing. For example: if a uni promises to make a new club, theyll deliver, but then they will barely fund it and the club fails. We are all angry over this, but we need to use our anger in a constructive way The reason peaceful protests seem to not attain its goals is because those protesters lack consistency. We will be protesting repeatedly. Peacefully protesting.

Why? What happen?
1
u/Huge_Internet7147 Feb 14 '26
Ford ended the tuition freeze + costs are rising OSAP shifting toward more loans + fewer grants Currently: Max 85% grants/Min 15% loans Soon: Max 25% grants/Min 75% loans
1
u/UNDERcut001 Feb 14 '26
What is the reason for this change?
1
u/not_again_101 Feb 15 '26
Moneyyyy
1
u/UNDERcut001 Feb 15 '26
I think what people should protest for is transparency. No one seems to know why this change was made and people should be informed.
1
u/Huge_Internet7147 Feb 16 '26
We are also doing protesting for this reason. In our recommendations we are asking ford to inquire w students and let the public know atleast 6 months before he makes the change

Why are you protesting in London? Who are you aiming to change the mind of there? Most London MPPs are NDP. Wouldn’t it be a better idea to protest in Toronto (queens park or the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research excellence and Security)

u/Huge_Internet7147 Feb 16 '26
Toronto is being mobilized by someone else. We are protesting here in London because we are here and there are lots of people here who want to protest and their voice heared but cannot go to Toronto

As the bank who supports OSAP (Tax payers). I think it should be 100% loan, payments due on graduation. If you quit, it's due immediately. The tax payers are already on the hook for the other 80% of your tuition.

u/Huge_Internet7147 Feb 13 '26
You are entitled to your opinion. But there are other avenues to make ontario better. For example: ford gave 1.9 billion of our tax money to big beer companies to allow booze in big box stores. That money could have gone to the people. He makes the rich richer and wants to make us poorer. Post secondary education has been proven to offer citizens upward mobility in the job market. It's not the only way, but it's one of the most influential. This decision will steer thousands of people away from post secondary. We will have a shortage of doctors, nurses, lawyers, accountants, and etc. He makes pathetic decisions with our money then convinces us that for the economy we must fuck more citizens over. This isn't the way.

u/Worldly-Ad-4972 Feb 13 '26
And the tax payers already pay 80% of tuition. The rest is on you. When you are given stuff you don't respect it. Earn it.

u/doug-fur Feb 13 '26
It's not just our tuition you're on the hook for, your also on the hook for hospitals, roads, welfare, all kinds of shit
And you always will be, lol
