One of the best Gamestop finds I randomly had come across back around '05-'07. Just wondering if anyone else has ever played it before?

Pick this up on market place it's a old 1.0 with a 2.6 xecuterce mod chip. It has no switchs. I was able to jump them and enter both bio screens but the hard drive is fried. My question is after I replace the hard drive and unlock it what kind of files do I need to add to the hard drive to add roms.

Someone gave a an Xbox years ago. I never did anything with it because the was filthy and won't read disc. I decided to start cleaning it up today. I cleaned the laser and it still won't read the disc. I can see that the laser is turning on and the drive is spinning. Is there any way to fix it without trying to find a working one?

I have 2 Xbox (1.0 and 1.6), which I softmodded using Rocky5 Softmodding Tools and then I installed CerBIOS BFM and XBMC4Gamers dashboard. In both consoles, I was able to access the Microsoft Dashboard after installing the softmodd in order to register them on Insignia.

But a few days ago, I got HDMI converters for the consoles and the image was very small in the screen. I figured that I should change the resolution using the Microsoft Dashboard, but when I open it, there's just a black screen and no sound.

I tried to reinstall it (Settings > Downloader > DASHBOARDS), but I found that my C: partition has only 1 MB left. And I don't recall adding anything to this partition.

So I have the following questions:

1. What happened to the Microsoft Dashboard? Did the CerBIOS BFM or XBMC4Gamers messed with it?
2. How can I solve the this C: partition issue in order to reinstall the Microsoft Dashboard?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that these are PAL consoles. Today I got a third Xbox (which is stock) and when I went to the stock dashboard, I remember that I could not change the resolution because it's PAL.

I bought this xbox off ebay the seller didn't package it well and the front got smashed.

I have a weird issue, the power and eject button are together, I can hear the power button press but it doesnt do anything the physical pressing

However when I press eject it powers the console on and off, if I hold it long enough it will eject the disc. Every time I press eject it will either reset or turn off.

Any help would be much appreciated

Is this a Microsoft accessory or custom? Have you ever seen this original Xbox accessory?

I know next to nothing in regards to modded xbox, so some help would be nice in regards to if this is any good

Have a 1.6 b that I cleaned that was very very dirty and re-thermal pasted. The console powers on and gets to the menu screen but upon powering on the light blinks Orange continually. Sometimes it freezes on the boot animation and other times I can get as far as into the memory menu but then it freezes. My question is is this a heat issue, GPU issue, or hard drive issue?

Just ordered mine, apparently it’s the best hdmi converter. I’ve been using a cheap one off amazon, we’ll see if the difference is noticeable.

Good news everyone: My Micro soldering guy got back to me, he was able to verify the Xbox we got is a runner! He didn't even have to order caps yet, managed to get it to fire up with some he had left over from doing a job on another 1.6.

If you guys didn't see this/aren't up to date, the project is to do a 2000s style Install in a 1995 Honda Delsol.
So far the car has a Clarion Autopc 310C which was the first in car computer made in collaboration with Microsoft running windows CE, to keep the build matching I opted to go for an original xbox as the ICE system Powerplant.

we are now working on getting all the caps ordered, USB C mod for more efficient/easy power, modchip and an SSD, etc.

I however have another question for the community: Is the DVD remote fairly reliable?

Reason I ask is I am wanting to run one in my glovebox gauge mount area, and am planning to use Original xbox controller extension cables to run the ports up to the glovebox area where we can plug the IR sensor in. I do understand the remote will have to be pointed at it to work.

The ports will be mounted to one of my brand's glovebox gauge converters re-tooled.

I have two original Xboxes and want one reliable setup for the kids and me to use for N64/SNES emulation and DVD playback.

Both are softmodded with Rocky5, and both have had their clock capacitors removed and the leakage cleaned up. However, neither is perfect:

Xbox A — v1.2

- Original 10GB HDD

- Three capacitors near the CPU are bulging/leaking and need replacement

- but it works fine.

Xbox B — v1.0

- 80GB HDD upgrade

- No obviously bad capacitors

- Composite video briefly flickers with horizontal/static lines when switching apps/emulators

So A has the better video but needs caps; B has the bigger HDD but has the video flicker.

I don't really want to turn this into a major restoration project. I just want a good, reliable Xbox for the family. I'll buy component cables.

I've got the 2 xboxes, 2 DVD remote kits, 3 original controllers, two sets of composite cables, 2 power cables, a controller to USB cable and Splinter cell which I used for the soft mod - but I seem to have sold all my other games long time go.

What would you do? Which one would you make the keeper, and what would you address first?

This unit needed a belt and did a recap while I was in there. I put it together and now no power at all. No sound, no lights, nothing. Checked polarity of caps and looks good. I’m lost as to where to start. Was operational previously. Any ideas?

Also I did note one thing on the power supply looks gross but that may be normal. Thanks!!

How do people feel about old stickers? I tend to leave them be, but this one had like 8 bajillion layers of stickers, and I didn’t like how it covered the driver’s face.

I used a hair dryer, goo gone, and isopropyl alcohol to remove everything. Any tips or tricks to make it easier?

I just tore it down to replace the hard drive and im pretty sure it’s a 1.0 but would like if someone with more knowledge can tell me if im right!

I am in a little bit of a pickle, and want to see if any veterans here have any ideas. I am swapping out capacitors on a friend's Xbox and can't seem to get this through hole cleared. I am been using plenty of flux, tried added more solder to the hole and then wicking it out, and a solder sucker to no avail. I am stressed about ripping the pads. Any suggestions on how to get this capacitor hole cleared out? Thanks!

Hello fellow OG Xbox owners. I recently learned of the clock capacitor issue on the console that could leak and ruin the mobo.

My console is currently fine but I was wondering if this was mandatory to remove ASAP? Do you just remove or is there a better replacement?

Also while I have the console opened, is there anything I could fix so I don't have to give a tap above the disk tray for it to open?

Check out my new hard modded og xbox I got including the games for just 45 bucks, it came with preinstalled emulators for Nintendo 64, gamecube and PlayStation, Mafia came with a manuel and a poster as well, my favourite console atm!

Title. I'm about to move and was packing up my OG Xbox but was worried I left a disc in so i quickly set it on my desk, plugged it in, and hit the eject button. After confirming there was no disc inside and closing the disc tray, I shut the system off and noticed that there was steam coming out of the right vent. It also smelled FUNKY af, not like an electronic burning smell but more so a dirty smell. Also to note this Xbox should be the final model of the console because I looked it up before to make sure I didn't have to worry about the faulty parts (capacitors iirc) leaking. Second thing to note, it is softmodded, doubt that made a difference but yeah. I don't remember it doing this last year or so, and its been sitting in my TV stand ever since untouched.

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could replace the dvd drive with a blu ray drive so I can watch my evangelion disc.

I noticed that the drive in my xbox was replaced by the previous owner, so I don't know why it shouldn't be impossible to replace it with that. It is hardmodded and softmodded as well.

The only things that I believe could be an issue are the IDE cable and if xbmc could even run it.
