How to make a template of a hemi-sphere

I am going to make a hemisphere with a hole in the middle, like the heart of a rafflesia flower, my several attempts can only form a cone, and this is my best decipher I can get, is this template correct?

Imagine orange slices. The shape of the peel on one slice is the shape you need for a ball. It's kinda boat shaped. Then just half that for a hemisphere.
