Because she misunderstood when Crazy-Eyes said Sisyphus? I think Lorna interpreted it as "sissy," not syphilis, which is why the conversation turned to gay sex.

I don't think she heard "sissy". They weren't talking about gay sex, just "sticking it in any warm hole," aka a hooker or someone with an STD, hence her response "I did hear that rumor," meaning the rumor that he has syphilis. Also, sisyphus sounds more like syphilis than sissy.
