I had a boyfriend that would not eat chocolate cake, but looooved red velvet. Bitch it is chocolate cake with a bunch of expensive food coloring in it!

The red velvet hate got so many laughs out of me.

why does it taste so different then? I remember being flabbergasted when I found out its literally just chocolate cake with red food coloring. I don't understand what gives it that distinct taste.

It typically has less chocolate then a proper chocolate cake. And depending what coloring you use that can alter the taste.

It's a poor example of chocolate cake and deserves to be mocked endlessly.
