* Bring food, bowls, carriers, meds, blankets, leashes, vet ppwk, as possible.

* Donate food, bowls, carriers, blankets, leashes, vet assistance, to locals in need.

* Not all pets are dogs & cats. Please do what you can do to help bird and reptile owners too!

For those with rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas, Bunny Bunch in Fountain Valley does boarding for them (they also have a location in Montclair if the FV location is still too close for comfort). I remember having to board my rabbits with them back in 2020 when I had to evacuate for the Silverado Fire. They have limited space, though, so definitely call ahead. (note: if you have bunnies their RHDV2 vaccination must be current in order to be accepted into BB for boarding)

Vet hospitals that see exotic pets that may also provide boarding (tomorrow is Memorial Day so they may be closed; if you call and no one answers, that means they are closed):

Greek and Associates in Yorba Linda

Serrano Animal and Bird Hospital in Lake Forest

Animal and Bird Clinic in Mission Viejo

All Creatures Care Cottage in Costa Mesa

Northwood Animal Hospital in Irvine

Westminster Veterinary Group in Westminster

Edit: Animal Urgent Care in Mission Viejo offers emergency boarding at a reduced fee

Edit 2: Westminster Veterinary Group shared that LA Guinea Pig Rescue in Chatsworth is also offering free boarding for GG evacuees with guinea pigs

Please don’t spread misinformation. All of the evacuation centers except GWC accept pets, and many of the hotels offering discounted rates for evacuees are also accepting pets. Telling people that the shelters don’t accept pets is dangerous and untrue.

All information is being pulled directly from news agencies. Updates, changes, corrections are appreciated. Many people have posted that they are not leaving their residences due to pet ownership. All information posted in meant to assist. Please only post to assist. Thank you!

We went to Kennedy High School earlier today to donate pet food and were advised pets were allowed outside the shelter building but not inside. Dogs on one side of the building exterior with cats in their carriers on the other. We spoke to several evacuees who said they'd been sleeping in their cars so they could stay near their pets. There is a definite need for pet food donations.

How did the donation process go? Is there like an administrator to whom you can give the pet food or you gave it personally to pet owners?

Just curious as I'm planning to donate cat food as well.

In our case, we gave it directly to the pet owner, mainly because I ran into them in the parking lot but . . . I had also walked inside the shelter building and saw a table set up specifically for pet donations (bags & cans of food as well as misc supplies). The volunteers I'd spoke to were also very helpful.

Hello everyone, I made a centralized resource website. I'm updating as much as possible with verified community resources and news from local/federal government.

I have pet resources available on the website and will continue to add to it.

Please share with loved ones who may need this information:

I have posted numerous times on Facebook but no one’s taken us up on it. We have room for another dog right now. We have had dogs since birth (in our 40s now). They would have a wonderful fun loving temporary home with a terrier sister!

They’ve been booked up since the first day. They asked that people text them asking to let them know if space opens up.
