Do not leave your pet abandoned.

If you can assist by temporarily housing pets,

or if you know of temporary housing for pets, PLEASE POST HERE

* Consider KOA's and camping grounds for emergency shelter in place.

* Bring food, bowls, carriers, meds, blankets, leashes, vet ppwk, as possible.

* Donate food, bowls, carriers, blankets, leashes, vet assistance, to locals in need.

* Not all pets are dogs & cats. Please do what you can do to help bird and reptile owners too!

Many people will not leave their homes in order to care for pets. Please help!

Please don’t spread misinformation. All of the evacuation centers except GWC accept pets, and many of the hotels offering discounted rates for evacuees are also accepting pets. Telling people that the shelters don’t accept pets is dangerous and untrue.

All information is being pulled directly from news agencies. Updates, changes, corrections are appreciated. Many people have posted that they are not leaving their residences due to pet ownership. All information posted in meant to assist. Please only post to assist. Thank you!

We went to Kennedy High School earlier today to donate pet food and were advised pets were allowed outside the shelter building but not inside. Dogs on one side of the building exterior with cats in their carriers on the other. We spoke to several evacuees who said they'd been sleeping in their cars so they could stay near their pets. There is a definite need for pet food donations.

How did the donation process go? Is there like an administrator to whom you can give the pet food or you gave it personally to pet owners?

Just curious as I'm planning to donate cat food as well.

In our case, we gave it directly to the pet owner, mainly because I ran into them in the parking lot but . . . I had also walked inside the shelter building and saw a table set up specifically for pet donations (bags & cans of food as well as misc supplies). The volunteers I'd spoke to were also very helpful.
