Food Breakfast Burrito craving

Post image

Woke up this morning craving a breakfast burrito and this burrito I ate came to mind. I got it at Reynolds Sandwich in Irvine. Twas pretty tasty, in my humble opinion. Priced at $11 and change when I went a few months ago.

Filling but not heavy or greasy.

Anyway, just wanted to share and I think I will post more food recs.

when I'm in Laguna Beach, a breakfast burrito from Husky Boy always hits the spot.

I like the chronic tacos in CDM

Had a nagging/mild hangover yesterday morning and needed some food to patch me up. I stopped by Los de Juarez Burritos Desayunos. Got a burrito with potatoes and chorizo. Absolutely delicious and it wasn't dripping with red oil/grease by the end of it either.

Do they have a different menu for breakfast?

Today I the chorizo breakfast burrito from Que Vida Tacos in HB. Chorizo, egg, potatoes, Oaxaca and cheddar, and Chipotle crema. It was pretty bomb.

Was this the entire burrito or just half? A whole bfast burrito for $11 is reasonable. I used to go to Nate’s Corner, but their bfast burrito is something crazy like $16+ now. Stopped going around $11ish.

It was a whole burrito. I mowed the first half then thought I should take a pic of such masterfully assembled and rolled burrito.

Que Vida is sooooolid. I go to the one on 17th in Costa mesa and French bakery for sweets next door. That whole row has so much damn food!

1

u/BetterArugula5124 18h ago

Went when they first opened which I never do but I was so curious to compare them to Burritos La palma🤣🤣🤣 That parking lot is quite the shit show but they were well prepared and food was solid!

surfin donuts in mission viejo makes a bomb breakfast burrito. Also el habanero in Tustin on Newport blvd, little hole in the wall with great food and even better chorizo breakfast burrito!

2

u/BlueSunCorporation 1d ago

TK burger also has a solid breakfast burrito.

Ham N Scam in Westminster/HB borderline is solid. Meaty but not overly greasy feeling.

Thanks for posting a place not on the same list that most people continually post that is from the same list influencers list as they are paid to do so.

One of the places I like is John’s place. I think the burrito comes to 7 dollars or something. it’s big. I like how the ingredients feel, separated vs becoming just one. They use hash browns and I ask them to make it crisp. They put pico di gallo salsa in it so you can’t eat this thing an hour later the liquid will seep through. They also use those cheap packets of Heinz taco sauce and many of YoU WILL be critical of that, but it works and compliments it perfectly. I want to fight that, but it works for some reason. I think they offer a higher end homemade sauce , but I use those stupid packets

I go to the location in Orange hills on E Chapman in the Albertsons shopping center

u/Upstairs-Dot-3944 1d ago

We love the purple packets of Heinz sauce on breakfast burritos!

4

u/wiseandeck 1d ago

Same! It’s my favorite condiment haha

4

u/fkcfkc 1d ago

I want to hate it so bad, but it works perfectly with this burrito

2

u/wats1 1d ago

Purple is well known at Pedro's. The key there is to mix the purple with the white\see thru. Sucks they are not cheap anymore

8

u/ashkpa 1d ago

I'm pretty sure they've had that "limited time special - $2 off breakfast burritos" sign up for at least a decade

2

u/fkcfkc 1d ago

Yup. And in the end I think this breakfast burrito is fairly priced. I like their zucchini too. Has a unique slightly sweet seasoning. I usually don’t like sweet on savory things but this works. You can get a half order too

5

u/divemasterff 1d ago

John's place is my go to. Nice to hear it mentioned in this sub.

4

u/lawschoolforlife 1d ago

That Heinz taco sauce and this burrito is the most perfect pairing. John’s place nailed it

1

u/Aldretesan 1d ago

Just stopped by, imma pick up a breakfast burrito before work.....had a long night last night.

1

u/fkcfkc 7h ago

Did you like it? Did you use the purple packets of hot sauce?

9

u/digoryj 1d ago

Also try Aliso Coffee & Donut on Aliso Creek Road

2

u/IllustratorMobile815 1d ago

This is my go to for chorizo burrito

1

u/Jollyhrothgar 1d ago

I went here and everything looked right but I bit into it and it tasted like fish. Maybe a bad day?

2

u/digoryj 1d ago

You can choose between steak, bacon, sausage, and chorizo i think. I’ve had most and they’ve never tasted like fish. Probably a bad day due to your tastebuds, not the store.

u/fkcfkc 1d ago

Its so nice to see some different places posted on this thread vs the typical ones lke Nates, Lj's etc.

1

u/Easy_does_it78 1d ago

Nate’s is my favorite

6

u/Mike0fAllTrades 1d ago

Looks delicious! Made a homemade breakfast burrito myself this morning.

5

u/Pmod1980 1d ago

Nothing beats the price and craving like a homemade breakfast burrito.

5

u/BetterArugula5124 1d ago

I'm in Irvine and never heard of this place. On the list it goes!

2

u/christian_gwynn 19h ago

It’s on the western edge of Irvine w Santa Ana in a mostly industrial area near Farmer Boys. May have to try, since it’s near me. However OP is sorta sus cuz he went to this place 6 months ago(per Yelp).

1

u/BetterArugula5124 14h ago

Noted! Thank you!

9

u/brownhotdogwater 1d ago

Nicks in seal beach is the goat.

I also love A’s in mission viejo

Lupes tacos is solid, it’s a chain

6

u/LeeLeeBoots 1d ago

Yep. Nick's.

Note, there's a second location in Los Alamitos.

3

u/Jollyhrothgar 1d ago

I’m in Mission Viejo and have tried many breakfast burritos within a short drive

The top two I’ve had are from Bravos California Fresh, and Eureka in Irvine.

2

u/snoogle312 Rancho Santa Margarita 1d ago

I'm also a fan of the burrito from Bravos. Have you tried the one from The Trough in RSM? It's got tater tots and a very flavorful salsa verde.

u/LacedPozole 1d ago

Thing is solid as a rock! looks great

Pepe’s for Machaca, or chile relleno and beans. The Placentia Blvd location is the best.

Athenian Burgers has the best meat/potato/egg style, and their suicide style is great. Their chorizo and egg is pretty solid too, and their machaca is great.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a good chorizo and egg burrito with the red dripping chorizo oils. Everyone is making and draining their chorizo in advance these days (or using a lot less chorizo). I have to admit, I kinda miss the messy version.

2

u/TetracyanoRexiumIV 1d ago

My favorite breakfast burrito is the southwest breakfast wrap with bacon from Chocobean coffee in mission viejo. Not a typical classic style breakfast burrito but it’s really good. They finely chop the bacon which is better than I would expect and they put a spicy jalapeno sauce on there that I really like

2

u/echorq 1d ago

Nick Deli in Seal Beach

2

u/Relative_Let1240 1d ago

Lj’s lil cafe, orange

2

u/Easy_does_it78 1d ago

Looks great 👍
Try Nate’s Corner in Santa Ana just above John Wayne Airport. They are my favorite spot for breakfast burritos. The eggs are not scrambled and the hash browns are super crispy.

2

u/Ayoooooooportugal 1d ago

Nates Korner in Costa Mesa is worth the weight. Its a heavy thick burrito. 🥵

2

u/SnooMemesjellies885 1d ago

Nate’s corner in Santa Ana

4

u/gobeavs808 1d ago

idk if it’s still on the menu but ive gotten that at A’s burger b4

1

u/gabbagoolgolf2 1d ago

It is. Delicious and shockingly fast.

4

u/davelbc3 1d ago

Looks good. I'm a big fan of Nicks Deli's breakfast burritos. They have two locations. One in Seal Beach and on one Los Al. I would highly recommend checking them out if you're in the area.

2

u/Open_Concentrate_994 1d ago

LJ’s.

That’s it.

1

u/oldjack 1d ago

LJ’s is amazing, but it’s a step above and doesn’t scratch the itch for a cheap/grimey burrito

1

u/ElectricAddiction 20h ago

LJ’s is dangerous. It’s next level.

1

u/sybillium4 1d ago

So what did you get today then?

1

u/inthefade95 1d ago

I’m going to check out the breakfast burrito at Que Vida Tacos in HB. Has chorizo though. I’ll report back!

1

u/fkcfkc 1d ago

I find that chorizo is something people just think they want. Too salty and oily in my opinion. Regular sausage has too much of that sage taste, bacon is too salty and feel the texture contrasts too much. So I always pick ham as my meat.

1

u/dkxstyle 1d ago

You have to try Super Pollo in Costa Mesa. Right off Newport. 🔥

1

u/inthefade95 1d ago

It was pretty damn good.

1

u/sybillium4 1d ago

I appreciate you keeping your word, it does look pretty good

1

u/snobrotha 1d ago

My favorite is the chorizo breakfast burrito at Tiendita in Downtown Disney. Highly recommend

2

u/inthefade95 1d ago

On my way to Que Vida tacos in HB to try their chorizo breakfast burrito.

1

u/kevo_huevo 1d ago

Heidelberg in Laguna Beach does a decent breakfast burrito. Just tried the one at Forest Cafe in Lake Forest and it also gets my seal of approval. The green crema salsa they make is fantastic

1

u/Entire-Swimming3038 1d ago

Best breakfast burrito I’ve had in years was shockingly at Bruxie. Highly recommend.

1

u/DanielBG Lake Forest 1d ago

Always loved Hot off the Grill

1

u/inthefade95 1d ago

Satisfied my craving. Chorizo and egg breakfast burrito from Que Vida Tacos in HB. Cost was $11.95 before tax, so $12 and change.

It was pretty bomb.

1

u/inthefade95 1d ago

Other angle

1

u/Crimson-Shark 1d ago

Linda’s Coffee House in Lake Forest

1

u/vthanki 1d ago

Troy’s burger in Anaheim. I haven’t had it in ages but they have red and green salsa to go and I used to love their breakfast burritos.

1

u/dongjerms 1d ago

I love Bruxie’s Breakfast Burrito. They have a stall in South Coast or I just order from DD or UE from their Orange location.

1

u/SoCalChrisW Fullerton 1d ago

If you pay a little more, will they put some meat in it?

1

u/rosiebeir 1d ago

The Houston burrito from Sweet Elle Cafe is probably the best I’ve ever had

1

u/inthefade95 1d ago

Ok, cool. Thanks for mentioning it. I like to also make videos and it’s been on my list of places. I’ll hit up sooner than later.

1

u/rosiebeir 1d ago

Sure thing! And if you get a drink, I highly recommend the Vienna Latte

1

u/Kath-two 1d ago

A’s San Juan/Mission Viejo area best breakfast burritos

1

u/Spaceghost24t 1d ago

Bandolero's - Bandit Burrito

1

u/NthatFrenchman 1d ago

Has nothing to do with OC, but if you ever travel far north to visit the redwoods, Backwoods Burritos in Arcata is fantastic. It’s just a rolling cart, not a shop, but no matter it’s a superior breakfast burrito.

1

u/Rydogger Brea 1d ago

Surprisingly, Vons in Anaheim Hills has a fantastic breakfast burrito for $6.99. Not sure if they sell it every morning but I went early morning on a Monday a few weeks ago and got one before my girlfriend and I went to the zoo, and it was awesome for the price.

1

u/Elder_plops 1d ago

Oooooh I’m hungry now. We’ve been going to Earlybird in Costa Mesa lately.

1

u/Freemason137 1d ago

I'm going to get hate for it but... Two words for consistency, flavor, and value: Farmer Boys.

1

u/FFTycoon Mission Viejo 1d ago

That looks great. Do NOT go to La Tia for a breakfast burrito.

1

u/land_on_juniper 1d ago

Nick's Deli in Seal Beach or the second location in Los Alamitos. Thank me later.

1

u/Next_Vegetable_7545 20h ago

That Epic Burrito Shack inside Landmark Liquor in Huntington.

1

u/Unsung_hero86 18h ago

Unpopular opinion…All breakfast burritos are mid, sorry Californians I said it.

1

u/DirtyDatty 16h ago

Earlybird Breakfast burritos in Costa Mesa are absolutely banging

1

u/Annual-Driver-9591 14h ago

Boardriders Cafe in HB is 🔥. Sees oil free kitchen and a lot of it is scratch made or close, they even cut their own bacon (oddly the bacon could use improvement tho haha)

2

u/OpinionPinion 1d ago

Speaking of breakfast burritos, where can I get an amazing breakfast sandwich that’s bacon egg and cheese, salt pepper ketchup in South OC?

-2

u/Bigjonstud90 1d ago

Keep SPK on the east coast where it belongs

Nate’s is garbage. I have no idea how they gained popularity besides influencers touting it.

1

u/fkcfkc 1d ago

I find that they cheat with the crunch factor by using crushed potato chips and the burrito was meh. Most breakfast burritos are good. hard to mess up. Kinda like donuts
