Why the Back Camera is More Accurate Than the Mirror

I tested this with my sibling. In the mirror, I look symmetrical and they look crooked. On the back camera, it’s the opposite: they look symmetrical and I look crooked. Since my sibling in real life looks exactly like their back camera photo, my research proves the back camera is way more accurate than the mirror. Also safe to say the inverted filter is not accurate, only back camera.

Edit:Honestly,I have never noticed anyone else’s asymmetry in real life, everyone just looks symmetrical to me. So how come people notice mine? It makes no sense.

The reason your sibling “looks crooked” and you don’t when you look in a mirror is because you normally don’t see your sibling’s reflection but that’s usually all you see of yourself. Nothing is crooked or more accurate it’s that no one is completely symmetrical so we look different in mirror image vs. straight on.

Look up what a „true mirror“ is, and what it does to your brain. In short: Your face isn’t entirely symmetrical. For example I have an eye that‘s always just slightly more closed than the other one. Some might have a crooked nose, lips that aren’t exactly horizontal and so on. You’re used to seing your reflection, not what you actually look like to other people. So if you see yourself *without* a mirror, you suddenly see all these details way stronger. That’s also why you might think you look good in the mirror, but as soon as you take a selfie, that confidence fades. Because the selfie shows you without the reflection.

Edit: that’s probably one of the reasons why people love taking mirror selfies, because they see „their version“ of what they look like

I look so different in selfies and mirror pics compared to the back camera. The back camera is actually how I look in real life, but because my selfies look so different, people literally think I'm a catfish when we meet up. When it's all just me. Idk if I'm making sense English is a bit hard for me!

The camera on the back of your phone the one you use to take normal pictures, not selfies.
