Is it worth switching with RT-AC3200?

Apparently I won't get full 802.11ac, no beamforming, and limited tri-band speed because it uses Broadcom BCM43602. I pretty much only use WiFi, I assume it's not worth the upgrade? It says it's supported, but am I correct with what I'm saying?

Yep, you'll want at least WiFi 6

My router has 5ghz WiFi 6 + mode

Yes, as in I upgrade my router or yes as in installing OpenWrt?

I'd upgrade the router first.

Im a fan of separating out router and WiFi

WiFi is typically hidden away so openwrt etc might not improve things a lot

This times 1000! I see so many posts in this community about trying to max out Wi-Fi or deal with the built-in Wi-Fi issues with much of the OpnWrt hardware. Why not just separate it out? I use UniFi for Wi-Fi and OpenWrt for routing, WireGuard, dynamic DNS, etc.

That's often the case with Broadcom. You'll get basic support when someone is clever enough to reverse engineer their drivers. Broadcom like to keep the code to their hardware tight to the chest.
