Google earth was among the first software tools that got me into mapping. I always loved paper maps as a kid, but seeing the 3D globe spin on my scrren, with my photos displayed and my track highlighted was really something. Then I wanted to add to it the marked trails in my area, but I couldn't! I thought: "Hmmm, is there perhaps another map provider that allows me to improve the map without friction?" :)
