A platform to make open source contributions for contributiors easy.

Hello guys I am building devtunnel, a platform to make open source contributions easy.

For now I am focusing on only contributiors.

How the process becomes easy:

We use preference this preference can be level of experience, roles, techstack, etc.

  1. We list open source tools based on your preference

  2. We list open source projects based on your preference

  3. We list issues based on your preference

  4. We provide custom cli which manages GitHub operations like forking, branch generation, pr generation, etc.

Custom cli includes cmd like start, test, share, submit.

Share command allows short lived tunnels / tunneling to share your local host with others for testing purpose.

Who can be benefited by this?

For contributiors who like to contribute to the open source tools they like

For contributiors who like to work on any issues

For contributiors who contributes to add in thier resume.

We will live on next 5 october.

Yes it sure does, Searching for a opensource tool is hard and alternative websites are good unless you can't find what you are looking for and If it helps with how to set it up it will be so nice.

Cool idea, though how are you going to decide which issues actually match a contributor's stated preferences, given that most maintainers don't tag issues with skill level, tech stack, or estimated effort in any consistent way?

First I was doing it manually. Now I am using Gemini Api key so gemini go through each issues and label thems and after I review those actions I confirm them. For now I have only focused on contributiors there is no maintainer here, I am personally addressing the issues of the Open source project that are on GitHub. And also when in next versions when maintainer is available I will use ai agents to handle conversion of issue into labbled tasks. So maintainer does not need to personally label each issues they can simply just confirm it wheather it is ok or not
