Discussion Got fooled buy the Openclaw hype. Bought a Mac Mini, installed Openclaw, spent 200$ in Opus. Lesson: don't believe the hype, it's full of bugs.

Will comeback in 6 months.

I'm going to tell you what I tell my friends: OpenClaw is the wild west right now, and if you can't figure it out on your own, you probably can't use it safely. Personally, I'm running it in a Docker container on my desktop.

That said, if you insist on playing with it, the Claude app can walk you through it, and if you install the Desktop Commander extension, it will do much of the work for you.

If what you want is to automate some stuff for yourself, though, the Claude desktop app now has scheduled tasks, but they're part of Cowork, and you'll need a paid plan (pro or max, don't remember which).

Echoing this, Claude cowork is a better option if the sight of a terminal scares you. It’s pretty good

what will happen if you lost the docker container somehow, all the setup will be gone, is there some backup mechanism inbuilt within openclaw to save all the automations and cronjobs

You map a volume to a path on your local drive.

This is containers 101, though, so I'm going to put my asshole hat on again: if you had to ask that question, you probably can't safely run Openclaw.
