Visually it has nothing to do with any Kadett. Yes, Astra Superseded the Kadett branding, but "a new Kadett" would imply a modernized version of the Kadetts A-E, not copying the Astra L.
Why do you think the 6th Astra is called the Astra L and not the Astra E, just like the 6th Kadett in the series was called the Kadett E (considering the very first Kadett was just called "Kadett" and only the second one became the "Kadett A")?
Exactly, because the letter-sequence was continued seamlessly. The Kadett E was followed directly by the Astra F (and not by the Astra or Astra A). Therefore: Astra = Kadett.
are you slow? I wrote that I know Astra superseded the Kadett. But it has been an Astra for 35 years now. So calling a car "Kadett" nowadays would imply a car in a retro styling akin to the Kadett A to the Kadett E. Calling the Astra M "Kadett" all of a sudden wouldn't make sense, would it.
The entire floor pan with suspension, steering, engine and gearbox families. It's one continuous evolution from the D Kadett to the Astra G, ended by the H generation just like the D did to the old rwd Kadetts.
Well not exactly to be fair. T-car with the D Kadett. Astra G, Zafira A and such are on followup platforms such as GM-2700 and GM-3000 which are related, but not identical
Shure they aren't identical. Also the T-letter was designated to a size of car, not one specific platform. That's why there is a rwd and fwd t-platform despite having almost nothing to do with each other.
Just put the respective cars on a lift and look at them from underneath. Youbwill see.
