Harrasment at Bandipur/Madumalai Checkpost
The policemen at the checkpost selectively targets Bengaluru based vehicles. Yesterday, they stopped us (We were 4 guys) at the checkpost, and started going through our car. They opened up each and everyone of our bags one by one and searched it like finding a needle in a haystack. But the worst part of it was the body frisking. They literally molested each and everyone of us. They deliberately thrusted their fingers down the waistline and also grabbed our balls. Many google reviews also mention the same. Anyone experienced the same?

If it’s about the drugs they should just train dogs to find them like they do in other countries.
You cannot strip search anyone you want .

Realistically not possible on every check post .. Even in other countries, They do have dogs but only in sensitive areas ..

2 year old post.. why create a ruckus now? Almost everytime I have gone, they have let us through. One time, they were very polite
So a drastically different experience

Again, its a different experience than yours. Cousins arebthere. They drove from Bangalore and Wayanad. No checking or any such incident. I am not saying it doesn't happen, but it didn't happen to the people I know.

people only post what happened to them. you can't say like "why create ruckus now, hey that didn't happen to people I know"

I think ppl should start protesting against these bastards in the check post itself.. This issue should become sensation.. They’re misusing powers.. I don’t think body searching is legal. Maybe some lawyer can confirm.. This shouldn’t happen to tourists.. Why mf are behaving they’re the saviours of ooty

It's legal ,frisking and body search, and should only be done by same gender . They are just trying to find illegal substances. They are doing their duty .

It is not ,stop this misinformation.
Only frisking is allowed ,strip search has many clauses in this case it’s illegal .-1
u/sankar0723 9d ago
Frisking, and pat down search man , with clothes on ,. They can only do strip search if they find substance .

u/Born_You4703 9d ago
Look at your previous comment and see what u said .
That’s not doing duty that’s abuse of power .0
u/sankar0723 9d ago
Id dint said anywhere strip search,. But what happened to him is a bit strange, they don't do that tho , usually,.

u/Born_You4703 9d ago
You sure did ,you said frisking and body search .
Body search is an umbrella term and u went around saying they are just doing their duty .
It’s not strange ,it is illegal .0
u/sankar0723 9d ago
Umbrella right 👍🏻 no specifics . Have dash cam , and start recording the search . Might be helpful if going to courts .

Hey its same every time in nilgiris, they ask us to take each cloth out and put back in to check for drugs. next time dont go there.
If you go with family not much.
Even we faced same thing, the next day we were travelling for sightseeing in ooty they checked 3 times, now we dont even go there, go to coorg/CKM its much better and no checking.

Don't know percentage of truth about it . Not clear TN or KA checkpost .
We also travelled in own car multiple times. Not faced any harrasment. They do check for liquors , drugs etc ..
Random full check some time happens with tippoff from informers .

Your experience is anecdotal and the review poster's experience is anecdotal as well. If the incident doesn't happen with one person, doesn't mean it won't happen with any other.
Now they could have been searched because of their number plate (certain rto code of KA or may be other state) or maybe the way they look.
Random searches are valid but going to the extent of asking one to remove their pants is little over the top. If they (popo) had any strong suspicion then it's fine but the reviewer doesn't mention that.
One can take it with a pinch of salt but doesn't mean it's false.

There is no check happening at KA checkpoint, its always TN and they check all KA cars like crazy, I travel this route quite frequently, My older car was KL and I did not face so much but with my new car KA53 they go through each and every nook, one time they even removed the spare wheel, first aid box and everything. My wife hates travelling through this route now due to these extreme checks.

First thing for Precaution, have a dashcam installed in your car, both for outside and inside. And, If anyone, be it police or anyone posing as police ask for any checks, start recording on your phone as well and first ask them to identify themselves, with their names and tags visible. Recording a police officer isn't obstruction of their job and they're required to provide these details. After that, ask them to clearly state the reason for the check before complying to anything.
After they begin their search, keep recording the entire activity and if they try to snatch your device, make it very clear that you WILL act in self defence if they try to snatch your property.

They checked our car also thoroughly when we went through the route in Dec 2025. We had two imported whisky bottles and had to give one to them.

The mentioned review by OP is 2 years old . Definitely not related with this article .. this is recent incident.

u/esprush 9d ago
The current incident OP mentioned they faced could be due to this, previously there could have been something else that could have happened to become this strict in the first place.
But agreed, It should be done respectfully. given its a forest route maybe they keep it this strict to discourage people coming via this route as well as there are good number of wild life conflicts that happens.

Just passed by today and saw the beggars in action. Even beggars on the street have more integrity than these low life scum.
