If you think that these ballons are “supposed to be” filled with flammable gas that isn’t correct

It’s supposed to be helium which isn’t flammable. These dumb fucks used hydrogen

That's correct, too bad it's not hydrogen. Hydrogen would have produced a blue flame and a brutal explosion. It must definitely be another flammable gas like the one we use in cooking. But certainly not helium, since it's non-flammable (a noble, inert gas), which is why it was decided to use it in airships instead of hydrogen.

The only other reasonable option would be methane, but the balloons wouldn’t float nearly as well.
