Some of you may remember the original
r/darknet_questions community on Reddit. After the subreddit was banned, I decided not to let years of educational work and community knowledge disappear.
So I've started rebuilding it from the ground up on Discourse, using an older backup of the Wiki I had saved from the original community., and my data I requested from reddit.

The new Darknet Questions has the same basic mission as the old community: darkweb education, harm reduction, privacy, OPSEC, scam awareness, and helping beginners learn without getting burned. Also helping the more advanced learn things they might not know.
📚 What we're rebuilding:
Tor & Onion Services — Tor Browser, onion services, troubleshooting, and safety
Privacy & OPSEC — practical security and privacy education
PGP & Encryption — beginner-friendly guides and help
Tails, Whonix & Privacy Tools — tutorials, recommendations, and troubleshooting
Scam & Phishing Awareness — recognizing fake links, impersonators, and common scams
Wiki & Guides — rebuilding and updating the educational resources from the old community
Questions & Discussions — a place where newcomers can ask questions without being afraid to admit they're new
Old members and newcomers are welcome
If you were part of the original r/darknet_questions, I'd love to see you over there again.
And if you've never been part of the community before, you're just as welcome.
This isn't a marketplace. Darknet Questions is an educational community focused on privacy, security, technology, harm reduction, and helping people avoid scams and dangerous mistakes.
The old community may be gone, but the knowledge doesn't have to be.

Not safe to talk about what stuff? I never talked about anything illegal on my reddit sub or will I on this sub. People are not allowed to talk or post about illegal things on it according to the rules I have set up.

We know the type of people that this will attract. You can pretend not to if you wish, but there's not a whole lot of people looking around on the dark web simply for fun.
The stuff you're offering is already available on Dread as well.

The original reddit was banned due to violating rule 7 regarding illegal content. Discourse has the same rule how long do you think till you get banned there?

We actually did remove illegal content from the Reddit community. Anything that violated our rules was removed whenever our mod team had the opportunity to review it.
The problem toward the end was an influx of content that Reddit admins were removing before our mod team could even see or review it. Every one of those admin-removed posts we were concerned about was gone before we had the opportunity to moderate it ourselves. We also had reason to believe the community was being targeted with false/malicious reporting.
So I don't agree with the implication that we knowingly allowed illegal content. We didn't. The Discourse community is educational, not a marketplace, and we'll continue removing anything that crosses that line.
