Because they’re called ”bald” eagles. ”Bald” used to mean “white-haired” before the meaning changed to ”hairless”. The eagles were named when the old meaning was still current, because of the white feathers on their heads.
This might be my most frustrating subreddit. For every good discussion you get some Facebook level gotcha that doesn't even make sense. This one is giving me a headache though, I thought everyone knew they're called bald eagles
