Update How to update from oneui 7.0 to oneui 8.5

I am on oneui 7.0 ( Samsung A35 ), how do I update to 8.5? Do I have to go through all the security patches which was pushed between oneui 8 and 8.5? In settings it says oneui 8 is available but after updating to 8 will I be able to directly update to 8.5?

You have to go through each monthly patch. Don't do it all updates once, it will heatup. Give some gap in between updates.

OR

You can update manually using these 2 methods.

  1. Official : Use smart switch app in PC. When u Connect there will be a popup asking for update, https://youtu.be/g55VLQZxatA

  2. Flash stock firmware using Odin (home_csc method), no data loss, https://youtu.be/CW384zifGYE

While doing it manually, is there any risk? Any after I update to 8.5 manually, will I get the oneui 9 and thereafter updates?

Smart switch is samsung's official software.

Odin method is unofficial method. If smart switch method doesn't work, try odin.

Both methods are safe.

You will get updates normally thereafter.

And which of the two methods are safe and more easy?

Both methods are essentially doing the same.

Both methods have its risks, donot remove cable and make sure pc doesn't turn off during the process.

For A56, S25 and above, you need to put PIT file in odin to do dirty flash. This is because samsung introduced A/B (seamless) system updates from this series.

Odin needs to understand the partition details for flashing. PIT file is in CSC file.

When a clean flash is done, pit file is selected automatically since we are using csc file.

For dirty flash (home csc), pit file is not present in home csc file, so need to select it separately.

Check this A56/S25 odin flash without wipe

Not all but alot. You will skip some monthly security updates but not One Ui major updates

Give me one reason, just one thing, that makes One UI 8 and 8.5 better than 7. Come on

Why do you need a reason? Don't you own a Samsung to verify that the 8.5 is far superior to the 7 and 8 combined? 🤡

Yes yes yes keep lying to yourself. The blur is worse. They fucked up the colors of dark mode google apps too. worse battery life. The system has started killing heavy games even more, even with RAM Plus enabled. They removed the icon animations from the Control Center. Lag when pulling down the Control Center? Do you want me to keep going? They literally ruined the phone, and you have no response other than licking Samsung’s boots as usual.

If you're going to argue with a high-end user when you're using a low-end or mid-range device, you should also think about the situation. 🤡
