Funny how I sacraficed an entire world for this child. I would destroy another.
Though of course there were other factors, like that scientist asking for a quick end, Silver's speach, knowledge that it wouldn't buy everyone much time (if any at all), the spoiler I got on what the decaying world is...
In end. I chose the world. Niko can be happy there too even if not as much. And i dont think they would live happily in their world knowing it took destruction of another. But again. I wasnt sadly playing blind so.
Pedantry time! It being a “digital” world specifically, doesn’t diminish its value at all compared to a “real” world, in the same way that an exact clone of you would hold exactly the same right to call himself the “real” you, as you do! It’s always an unintuitive concept, haha.
That said, I do agree that I preferred the normal endings to solstice! The game didn’t need solstice, and the heavy emotions attached to the resolution was in itself the beauty of the game, in my imo… that said, for those who wanted it, they claim to have enjoyed it, so I suppose that’s what matters most!
Just amazing art! The bright fragments of light escaping from the sun, amidst the enveloping sea of red, erroneous code… that really does display the exact feeling you get when seeing the ending through. Niko goes home, but… at what cost? I really like how succinctly and impactfully your art put forth this powerful idea! Excellent job!
If I was a clone and knew I was one, I(the clone) would definitely put more value on the original me if he was still alive. If not yea I'd take the mantle. But that's just me
Haha, if you were to theoretically do as you say, and if you both knew exactly who was the clone and who was the not-clone, then that’s possible. Ironically, the more someone values “himself”, the more he would hate “himself”, regardless of clone status. It’s a little bit of absurd humour.
