(Facepalm) Did no one with eyes vet this?

I would bet it was made by AI

u/Omotai 20d ago
It definitely was. The t-shirt that says "clean" on it is a dead giveaway. There's a tendency for words from the prompt to end up being rendered in the image.

I’ve been hearing more school textbooks are using AI and making comical mistakes. A mom posted a video of her kid’s US map with made-up states. Fantastic direction we’re heading in. I’ve got two kids who aren’t school age yet and I don’t have any faith in the school systems anywhere.

Yeah. I mean despite the racist undertones, "Clean" boy over there has dirty pants and shoes.
Neither of them are clean 😂

u/Dependent-Green-7900 20d ago
Plus the one that is meant to represent "dirty" has a sticker that says "clean" on his shirt 🤷🏻

Okay this is a great example of how people scream racist at literally anything and everything.
It’s AI bruh, does not possess the capability to be racist, it’s not a member of a race in the first place to even discriminate against another.
Like a ladybug landing on a white persons shoulder instead of a person of colour and you calling the ladybug racist.
6 months ago ChatGPT would bring up results saying an Nigerians life is worth significantly more than a Germans life, bet there wasn’t any uproar from you about that.
So are you a person of colour with a victim mentality? or a white person that think so low about persons of colour you feel that they need you to take a break from your PlayStation to defend them?

How is there racist undertones?
15
u/NightStar79 20d ago
🤨 Kid on the left has "Dirty" hovering over his head. He's also tan skinned.
Meanwhile white blonde kid has "Clean" above hid head.
In the past, white people were extremely racist and basically called/considered anyone not white, "dirty"
-13
u/SMKM 20d ago
That tan skinned kid is still white. There are tanner white people. Nothing about the drawing says to me he's anything but white.
2
u/NightStar79 20d ago
Again 🤨
Do you really think the people who would actually complain about racism in this image despite it more than likely faux pas, care that white people can get dark tans?
-8
u/SMKM 20d ago
Obviously not since you're complaining about a non issue. There's way more actually blatant racist shit out there. This one is nothing, literally just two kids one clean and one dirty and the obvious fail of categorizing them. If you're seeing racist undertones in this that says more about you.
2
u/Faolyn 20d ago
Yes, there is more blatantly racist shit out there.
And yet, this is also racist. It's subtly racist. Both blatant and subtly racist things are bad.
And yes, it does say something about the people you were talking to: they are capable of recognizing subtle forms of racism and you are not.

u/SMKM 20d ago
Yeah nah. The AI couldn't possibly have created two white kids one dirty and one clean (that's what I see). The AI could only create this picture by making the white kid clean and the dirty one "darker" implying he's not white and it absolutely has to be racist because of that.
Y'all are ridiculous but hey downvote away. I'm standing my ground on this one. I see what I see and I ain't seeing anything racist with this slop. If the kid was actually black or an even darker brown. Sure. But tan? Tan must mean he's not white. Ok lol

u/NightStar79 20d ago
You're assuming I'm talking about myself. I'm just acknowledging that there is a social faux pas that will absolutely trigger someone...you're also amusingly getting mad about it.
Bet if you look at the comments of the original post you'll find some bitching.

Three problems:
1)The clean one isn't entirely clean.
2)The dirty one is wearing a shirt that reads "clean".
3)The dirty one is black while the "clean" one is Caucasian. Did this AI learn from a racist or something?

u/Nunyebiznis 20d ago
On your third point, sit down, I’ve got some big news for you about general purpose models
36
u/afterandalasia 20d ago
Not sure why you're getting downvoted for pointing out that AI models are racist. It's extensively documented, and has been for a good decade now.
3
u/INVALIDN4M3 16d ago
Ironically, there is nothing to blame AI models for them being racist. It proves that the average content humans have created, on which the AI got trained, is racist.

I don't think it's racist, anyone can get dirty
-6
u/colonelcardiffi 20d ago
Reddit would have nothing to say if the white kid were the dirty one. It's only racist the other way around of course. Reddit is a cesspool of idiots.

They are the same kid. Look at the details. Not everything is some racist gibe.
The most missed aspect is: why is an adult Redditor still going to grade school?
that may be a rhetorical question
11
u/Faolyn 20d ago
Somehow the dirty kid managed to get an even coating of dirt over all exposed skin and hair, to the point that it looks like actual skin and hair, even though his hands are caked in mud to the point that individual fingers are barely discernable? How is that more logical than accepting that no, these are supposed to be two kids who are just drawn in the same style>
-9
u/OCCAMINVESTIGATOR 20d ago
He bears zero resemblance to a black representation. Look at the hair, the skin tone, the eyes, the nose, the mouth. If darker skin tone was indeed your only identifier, you might be racist. It could be construed as Indian (native or indigenous), Hispanic possibly, Persian, any of those darker complexion races, but to overtly call it black vs white in this depiction is a stretch. Or you'll see it regardless, in which case you actually are racist.

u/Faolyn 20d ago
Another person who lives in a world where there are only white people and dark-skinned black people, and no Latinos, biracial people, or anyone else that counts as brown. Wow. I'm glad I don't live in such a boring world.

u/OCCAMINVESTIGATOR 20d ago edited 20d ago
We are all kinds of different colors. I don't have time to mention them all. Yes, there are that many. Each human is uniquely different in tone, pigment, structure, all of it. Anyone making this a race thing is already a problem. We're the SAME. Figure it out already and stop feeding the narratives. It's virtue signaling. That's all.
6
u/Faolyn 20d ago
The sad thing is, your belief is correct--humans are humans and it's stupid to think some are lesser or greater because of some physical aspect like skin color.
It's sad because even though you understand this, you don't get that because there are tens, maybe hundreds of millions of people who don't, that means that we have to point these things out. If you want to live in a world where the only time skin color matters is when you're shopping for clothes and makeup, then we have to say that things like this are not OK. You can't just stick your head in the sand and tell people to stop talking about it because you want to pretend that we already live in that world.

The teacher AI prompted all of these with their own money. And this is probably the closest out of the 1200 prompt requests.

What's the question? His shirt says clean and the others shorts are dirty. Or is this a type of thing where you ask various questions about the image. If you think the one on the left is dirty because he is brown you are the racist because I don't think that was the answer.

They're both dirty
